We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As an artist everything comes down to risk. The belief in yourself, the belief in your work.., it’s all risky! To truly believe in yourself so much that you want to share what you’ve created with the entire World knowing that they may not understand or even connect to your artistry is Crazy! But as artists it’s our life and the thing that gets us up in the morning.., if we even slept that night!!!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist, I find myself aiming to reach this Utopia of ideal and simplicity with Imagery. I have a background in film so photography allows me to stop time and focus on one specific frame or image and tell the story an entire movie would take to communicate. Finding your way beyond art, just life in general isn’t easy and sometimes knowing who you are not, is just as important as knowing who you are. The road you choose not to take and even saying no to certain deals on the table can define you, so being patient with yourself and trusting your gut will help you navigate most challenges. You have to deeply believe you are supposed to be here and create from that perspective.., everything about me is rooted in that belief.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Listen, Atlanta is all about vibes!! so for me I’m definitely checking out the High Museum of Art, there is always something beautiful to see there, Starlight Drive-in theatre, Rumi’s Kitchen never disappoints and I’d grab some coffee at Daily Dose off Memorial.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big part of my story wouldn’t be possible without the advice my mother gave me at an early age. She told me that how I viewed and treated myself and the thoughts and feelings connected to that would inform the world around me on how to treat me. That stuck with me and I carry it with me in every room I walk in.
