We had the good fortune of connecting with Aimee Trouvaille and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aimee, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was in esthetician school and fell in love with ingredients when we went over ingredients and their benefits. I started looking up different ingredients online and before I knew it I was making body butter, body scrubs, and lip gloss.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At heart I’m an artist and it all started when I was about 2, I would draw. I’ve never gotten away from it, I do more digital art now. That love for detailed drawing translated into my body care business where I design logos, product labels, content, captions and so much more!
Getting started wasn’t easy, these ingredients and labels cost money, and finding people that are willing to chance to try your products isn’t easy either. I didn’t realize there were so many others in this industry but I knew my advantage, my background in esthetics. It’s all a learning process and you must be humble and willing to learn. There will be days where you’ll make $200 or $300 or even $1000 but there will also be days where you only make $30 or nothing at all. For me it’s not just about making sales, it’s about helping people.
I learned that if you’re open to learning even the most difficult subject that you can learn and teach others. I learned how to be resilient and to not give up at the first time of trouble.
I’d like everyone to know that this is not a hobby for me and that I truly enjoy what I do! I created my products to solve a problem not just to smell good or look pretty in a jar. Whether I am formulating a product, physically making it, packaging it, or packing it, this is what I was made to do.
I see the value in what I’m doing and I won’t stop.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t go out much but let’s see…

First, we’d go to Lenox Mall because even though it gets crowded, everyone that comes to Atlanta should go at least once. We can eat lunch at the Cheesecake Factory because who doesn’t love a restaurant with large portions and giant slices of cheesecake? My favorite is the red velvet if anyone wants to earn some cool points.

Another stop would be Little Five Points and so we can eat at the Vortex, the menu changes every so often but hopefully, they still have the fried mac and cheese bites. And afterward, we can check out some local shops such as The Junkman’s Daughter, and get an ice cream sandwich from Insomnia Cookie.

If they happen to be a fan of Vampire Diaries I’d take them to Covington Georgia to visit the square. They have a tour and certain items can be found in the stores such as blood bags that are filled with hibiscus tea. We may even stop in the Mystic Grill which isn’t as simple as it seemed in the show.

Of course, we would try my favorite pizza spots like B.C. Pizza in Mcdonough and Mod Pizza in Decatur.

If they would like to have brunch, we would go to First Watch, I’ve loved every meal from there and the Million Dollar Bacon is everything!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are my classmates and teachers from Paul Mitchell Esani, my friends Terry, Joey, Dawn, and Meg, and from my family, my mom, brother and grandmother. They have been with me since the beginning and have been a part of the progress that I’ve made.
