We had the good fortune of connecting with ROS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ROS, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor for me is follow through. Most people I have encountered in this business come in hot with great excitement based on an idea or opportunity but fail when it comes to staying in the process.
On the walls of my office, I have a plaque that features one of my personal mantras “Only The Best Idea Survives”. This mindset is another important factor in how well things have gone in my career. I don’t hold any personal attachment to a concept. I believe that all thoughts can evolve higher. Hence, the brand is doing well because the focus is on constant improvement & growth.
Lastly, I only do things that are geniunely of interest to me personally. I don’t chase money with the efforts. I pursure creative freedom & release. This approach has served me well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My personal statement is “I AM ART” because I am involved in so many varying disciplines. I am a songwriter | musician | recording artist. I am a painter | illustrator. I am a clothing designer. I am DJ | Producer. I am an author. I am an entrepreneur across disciplines. I am a writer. Etc. Hence, a simple title or classification has always been difficult because most people need to figure out which “box” to place you in.
I prefer my freedom. That mindset has allowed me to enjoy sucesss and experiences in a variety of business & creative sectors. Has this jagged road been easy? Absolutely not. Still, chasing the things that move me and making business opportunities of the things I see first in my thoughts has been extremely gratifying.
I have learned that what matters most is to “Thine Own Self Be True” is the only way for me to operate as a personal brand & business owner. Such has truly served me well & made life an amazing adventure.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really love places that have great walkability, bars & restaurants, and character.
The list of places we would hit over the week would be: Historic Roswell (Canton St), the new FORTH Hotel in Old Fourth Ward (Amazing addition to Atlanta!), daytime visits to the Beltline & Georgia Aquarium are a must, Avalon on Friday night for drinks, shopping, and socializing, Nine Mile Station at Ponce City Market for dinner and the best rooftop views in Midtown, and the must-do visit to the legendary Clairmont Lounge on Ponce.
This social playlist will give a phenomenal experience to anyone who wants to get a truly great sample of flavors Atlanta brings to bear. I love this city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Interestingly enough, actually unfortunately, I do not have an individual in my walk that fits this description. I have never had an OG or mentor though it was definitely something I looked for in life & career.
I have had amazing conversations with industry legends such as Russell Simmons that provided one-off advice or similar but, for the most part, I’ve not had much of a go to individual or group involved in my story. That said, I have a large group of friends & supporters that show up to elevate my public-facing efforts so, my gratitude would be extended to all of them as a whole.
