Meet Andrew Fincham

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Fincham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, what role has risk played in your life or career?
If I’m not taking risks than I’m not moving forward. I have a tendency to get really comfortable with where I’m at… this honestly ceases productivity in a big way for me. So I have to be proactive in taking these risks and pursuing the things that scare me the most. Recently for me that was making the choice to make a feature film. HUGE task and insanely long process but I know for a fact there will be so much growth from it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My most recent production-related decision was to turn my short film series “SHARP” into a full length feature film. We’ve received so much support for this project and it has truly changed the game. I came up with the idea when I made a decision to take control of my own career and produce my own content. Waiting around for the film industry to notice me really wasn’t doing me any favors so I started out by writing characters I wanted to play. That’s how the character of Scott Sharp was born. When i debuted the first short with that character the reaction from the crowd was enough to encourage me to make more! And it’s been a steady process of moving onwards and upward ever since. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends and family visit me in Atlanta my first spot to visit is Ponce City Market. Something about that place just calls to me. The food, the crowds, the shops… it just makes me feel at home. There’s a place there that makes its pasta by hand that is just absolutely dynamite. If you want to know my favorite restaurant in all of Atlanta though… it’s a place called Zyka. Do yourself a favor and get the chicken biryani. You’ll thank me later.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my film community. Through thick and thin, my friends have stuck with me. No matter what we film, we have a blast. There’s an overwhelming amount of support and love. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
