Meet Emma McMorran | Art Museum Manager & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma McMorran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emma, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a career in art museums because I’m passionate about increasing access to the arts and education. In my full-time job at the Georgetown University Art Galleries, I plan contemporary art exhibitions and public programs.
I started documenting my outfits on social media because I love fashion. I love color, pattern, texture, and beautiful designs. My goal with my social media accounts is to inspire my audience of young women to embrace personal style as self expression.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My most frequent series on social media is “GRWM for work at an art museum.” I like showing how professional workwear can still be colorful and fun.
I’m an 8th generation Atlantan. I grew up in Sandy Springs and Buckhead. My bio is “future southern grandmother,” and my style is heavily influenced by Southern culture. I love a big sleeve! Big hair!
I have a 9-5 job, and I only do content creation part-time. I have to be very diligent with how I use my time. I have my set routines of filming my outfits in the morning, and I try to post every day.
I love showing my life through the outfits, restaurants, and other things I share on social media.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the OK Cafe. I took a friend visiting Atlanta there, and he ate so much that we had to roll down the car window after lunch because he thought he was gonna barf. The fried chicken and mac and cheese were just too good. He hurt himself.
Labels is my favorite store! It’s all secondhand designer consignment ranging from J Crew to Chanel. I always leave with a couple of dresses. I like going to Le Bon Nosh afterwards for coffee.
Ponce City Market is a must-visit for anyone’s first time in Atlanta. The food hall is so much fun.
Other food recs: Ani’s, the Swan Coach House, Henri’s Bakery, and Le Bilboquet.
I love the Atlanta Botanical Gardens! Especially with the holiday lights. The High Museum of Art and the Atlanta History Center are also fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom is the main person in my life that will tell me when something I’m wearing is truly ugly. That’s love.
She grew up wearing Betsey Johnson tulle dresses, putting blue streaks in her hair, and dancing with RuPaul in Atlanta. She’s my personal stylist, life coach, and the funniest person I know.
My followers know she loves to ship me boxes of her Goodwill and TJ Maxx finds. I’ve opened feather dresses, cow socks, and many silly notes.
