We had the good fortune of connecting with David Cardenas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I made the decision to become an entrepreneur because I wanted to be a role model for my children and achieve a personal goal. I chose to venture into the home services industry, specifically junk removal, due to its resilience to economic downturns and relatively low barriers to entry. This seemed like the perfect starting point for my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I worked in corporate technology sales for over 20 years, which made me very comfortable with the constantly changing world of technology and its impact on business growth and efficiency. In addition, I spent a few years studying acquisition entrepreneurship. After finding exactly what I was looking for, I decided to start my own business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a music lover, I enjoy finding local live music events to attend. Atlanta has some great festivals and concert venues throughout the year. I also love taking walks or jogging along the Beltline to enjoy the beautiful people of Atlanta and the sunny weather we often have. Additionally, I enjoy trying out local dining spots like Fish Monger, Delbar, Antico Pizza, or Heirloom Barbecue.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
After spending several years in corporate sales, I am grateful for the support of my customers and friends during my professional transition and for the knowledge I gained about entrepreneurship from Walker Dibel’s Acquisition Lab and community.
