We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine McSwain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing that I have done as a parent to impact my child is taking a chance on starting my own photography business. With control over my schedule, I am able to spend more quality time with my daughter, focusing on her education and making memories with her.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For me , being a photographer is bigger than capturing the perfect photo. I care about the person over the picture.

During studio shoots, I make sure all of my clients have the self-confidence to pose and actually feel beautiful.
I don’t like to over edit because the reality is that I see a beauty in them that they don’t see. My goal is for them to embrace every inch of themselves. There is beauty in realness.

What sets me apart from others is being a woman in the media industry and being capable of producing quality photos and captivating videos for my clients.
There is a-lot of underestimating that goes along with this profession as a woman but I feed off of that. I like to provide you with beautiful photos , and prove you wrong at the same time .

Filming and photographing events, I live to tell the story and make the viewers feel the moment when looking at the final product. I will always dance , eat, and mingle at your events. It’s literally in the contract. My personality is what keeps my bookings filled.

On this entrepreneur journey I discovered who Jasmine is. I learned how powerful I am when it comes to connecting with people and bringing visions to life. My self-confidence grew tremendously. I no longer dim my light or move as a person that was once shy. I’ve developed into a leader.

The biggest challenge was balancing a newborn, starting a new business and over coming post partum depression . I had just graduated grad school in the middle of the pandemic, hiring processes all over had stopped so I took a chance on me. I got here today from believing in God, having my parents to watch my daughter while working , and the will to never give up.

A lesson that I’ve learned is to take that chance to build the life that you want if you have the opportunity. Make use of what you have and learn how to develop it into a business.

I want the world to know that I enjoy using my camera to be a part of your story. I want my photos and videos to last forever within your family and your businesses.

I played basketball all the way through the collegiate level and overtime I developed the name “McSwish”. I took that part of my old life , merged it with my new life and developed my photography business “Swish Snapshots”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week long trip for me and my best friend would entail alot of eating and sight seeing .

Monday: Monday would be a relaxing day , we’d go get our nails done and I’d cook dinner and we’d just watch movies on my couch . Catching up and resting.

Tuesday: In the morning , we’re going to the gym and then come back to my house for breakfast.
We’d then go do some shopping , visit some family and friends, find $2 Tuesday deals, really just go wherever the wind takes us.

Wednesday: On this day we would have a pool day just to unwind, maybe invite some friends to put some food on the grill . Good music, good fun until the night.

Thursday: Sight seeing Atlanta would be this day . We would grab some scooters and ride the belt line, trying all of the different restaurants and bars. And ending the night with a ride up 75 to see the view of the buildings in midtown.

Friday , we would probably link up with some of my work friends and go to Andrettis to drive Go Karts and then go to Mexico Lindo on Veterans Memorial for food, drinks and laughs .

Saturday we would go to Piedmont park for a picnic and just enjoy the beautiful city and people.

Then we would end our Sunday at Open Wings Ministry in Riverdale Georgia .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give recognition to Kevin Buford, the owner and creator of Locker Room Productions also know as LRP FILMZ. Working under his expertise I have excelled in my business and my personal life. He is a phenomenal role model and is very knowledgeable in the media industry. To be able to learn from him has been a blessing and game changer in my life. I am forever grateful.
