We had the good fortune of connecting with KY’K and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KY’K, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When chasing anything in life there are going to be ups and downs and at some point every person has felt the feeling of giving up. I believe that no matter what success or feedback received, if you are passionate behind what you do the motivation to keep going is determined by how satisfied you are with your work. Life is already set up to be linear and our goals should be to spark creativity and imagination making us want to continue to pursue our dreams and aspirations

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began writing music and freestyling since I was in elementary school. My love for music sparked from my mom introducing me to such a wide variety of music styles and compositions. I gained the confidence to start actually putting my words on to instrumentals around 2019. I started making like trap/plug songs. Then I decided I wanted to take a more conscious approach with my music and I dropped the brown sugar tape vol. 1 on bandlab which is still available and liked by many. I gained a decent following on the platform and from motivation of my peers I decided to pursue the career harder and put out on all platforms. What I believe helps me as an artist is my versatility. I try to make sure I do not limit myself on what type of music I can do and I’m willing to try to compose on any concept. What I’ve learned the most from this the most is that you must remain consistent and it’s going to take time. Despite the ups and downs persevering through it all and continuing to try will push me further than anything. I want everyone to know that I will never stop going until I can’t go anymore and even then I’m gonna do some more

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I typically don’t get out to much. I work a lot of days and if I’m not at my typical job I’m putting in work on the music side of things. I do enjoy breakfast at toast on lenox it’s an amazing spot full of culture and good food. There is plenty of great food around the city of atlanta and surrounding areas you just have to get around. You have to have some chicken wings from somewhere though that is a must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First I must shoutout my foundation and that is the family that raised me. I wouldn’t be the same if I wasn’t provided the support from my family. All my friends that play my music consistently and spread my art I’m extremely grateful for that. Real big shoutout to the creative genuineness that have helped me hands on with my career so far. I also want to send love to the supporters I haven’t met yet I am extremely grateful before it even happens.
