We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Wooden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and my brain is God and my story. Being in the hospital in the middle of Covid in a coma for 3 1/2 days, really put life and perspective for me. Having another chance at life really gave me the determination to build my brand with purpose, and allowing God to lead the way

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I would call myself a super creative! I have been a cosmetologist for over 17+ years and I love what I do. My motto for my beauty brand is “ Pursuing purpose through beauty”. My Business is called AshWood Co where we specialize in natural hair and protective styles. I also have a Christian apparel brand call Hope Unlimited, where we inspire people to rebuild their hope and give Hope as much as possible. Both of my brands inspire people to be their best self and this is what sets me apart from anyone else. I’m here to pour out all of what God has given me through style and inspiration. It definitely wasn’t easy overcoming challenges because when you have a dream no matter what happens. You have to just keep going, the lessons I’ve learned along the way is staying prayerful, consistent, and being around people with the same drive and push that you have. I would want the world to know through my brands is that anything is possible through the help of God. That even though Life can be a bit challenging believing and hoping should always be your anchor to overcome whatever you’re facing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Georgia for their food malls so we would definitely hit up Ponce City Market and The Works ATL! I am a foodie so being able to enjoy different foods while listening to music and walking around with aesthetically pleasing areas where we can take pictures is a perfect day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! I would love to shout out my parents TINA( Mom CHARLES (Dad) AND CHERYL (bonus mom)/family for always supporting my ideas and dreams, my friends that communicate love and support on any level, and my pastors Labryant and Phineka Friend of Belong ATL Who pray and PUSH ME to be original and consistent in all that I do!
