We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Singer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
While I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to start my own business, I never sat down and decided I wanted to start a stationery business. It has evolved over the years from a small embroidery business that I started in high school which focused mostly on customizing clothes and other items for close family and friends. That died off when I went to college and it wasn’t until 2020 that I really started back. I became a fully remote corporate employee during the pandemic, and with a lighter than ever social calendar, I was ready to have a creative outlet again. I started by making gift tags for family and friends, then by late 2020 was doing a few invitations and stationery. It was at that point I took a leap and opened an Etsy shop to see if any anybody would buy my products online. Fast forward a little less than 4 years and thousands of sales later, it has surpassed my wildest dreams!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I graduated from Auburn University with a Merchandising Degree. While I learned a lot, I did not learn anything about graphic design. So, everything I know about design has been self-taught. While I have a lot of pride in that, it has definitely presented its own set of challenges. It has required a lot of patience, curiosity, and resourcefulness. I have put in countless hours of research and trial and error, but it has all gotten me to where I am today. When I look back at some of my first designs to my most recent designs, I feel so proud for how far I’ve come. At the end of the day, I want customers to feel comfortable coming to me with whatever vision they have with confidence that I will be able to deliver it for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nuevo Laredo: My favorite Mexican restaurant, maybe even restaurant in general. My go-to order is the steak fajitas with a Cadillac margarita!

Fetch/The Works: A fun eat/drink/play spot! We have two dogs, so we always love bringing them to Fetch and seeing them run around and play. You can also grab a drink at Dr. Scofflaw’s and some food at The Works Food Court, which has so many wonderful options!

Lake Lanier: It’s about to be summer time which means my mind is on the water and sunshine! We love going up to the lake to get some sun and cool off in the water.

The Chastain: A cute place to grab a coffee/pastry with lots of outdoor seating, so it’s perfect for a nice day. There’s also a little trail for you to walk off your pastries!

The Battery/Truist Park: We love going to the Braves games in the summertime! Even if you don’t have tickets, you can watch the game from a restaurant or on the green space in the Battery.

Marcel: If you’re really wanting to treat yourself, this is the place! Everything we have ever ordered from here has been mouthwatering.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My community of family and friends! They have been my constant source of support and encouragement since the very beginning. With me having little to no design experience, their trust and confidence in my work has been my fuel. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them!
