We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammie Peterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
God and Referrals….My beautiful clients grow my business. They are the most important factor to sustaining my business. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have a business! It’s always so refreshing and exciting when I receive a call, text or email saying that they were referred to me for their photography needs.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from other photographers sometimes is having a Tv/Film background with having an understanding of production aspects especially when doing photography work in a studio. I’m always very proud when my photography clients tell me how much they like their photos and the overall shoot or session. I got to where I’m at today first and foremost with the blessing of God and wonderful clients. Also, going to conferences and workshops and meet-ups where I have the opportunity to collaborate with other creatives in the Photography world or just creatives in general! Was it easy in getting to where I am today when I look back when I started, no there was a lot of learning and growing to evolve where I am now. The lessons I learn was “always be learning”. It’s so important to be on top of the latest of things and always be in the know. It helps you constant and in touch.
I want the world to know that when it comes to photography, I’m very passionate about capturing images and telling stories with my camera through my lens. My brand is about capturing special moments that are special to people.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Atlanta Beltline! I absolutely love it there….It’s a place to walk and see a diversity or people, families and creatives enjoying the day with music, food and activities. The vibe is fun. I love the variety of restaurants and vendors along the way as you walk. I love see people have fun and just enjoying themselves in this atmosphere where families, friends, lovers, entrepreneurs and creatives come together. Krog Street Market is an exciting Food Hall to have a variety of options, Playa Bowl is a healthy place to have a delicious bowl of fruit and smoothies. Ladybird is a great vibe to enjoy a meal with friends, as it’s always packed with people. There’s a great Mexican restaurant called Bell Street Burrito and an Asian restaurant called Hawkers that GREAT food!
Then there’s Ponce City Market that has a variety of different shops inside and on the roof there’s an amusement park! Along with a restaurant called 9 Mile Station that has amazing views of Atlanta for taking photos with someone. And next along the way is Piedmont Park which is good for photographing and relaxing and especially if you have a special someone.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to two incredible photography organizations…..IMAGING USA and WPPI (Wedding Photography & Portraits International). These are two photography conferences I go to every year or at least try to! WPPI is like Spring Break for Photographers and IMAGING USA is like everything regarding photography from A to Z. They both are amazing conferences and you meet so many other photographers who share your creative spirit and passion for the art of capturing images.
