We had the good fortune of connecting with Theresa Vassell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Theresa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting my business I kept thinking about the current state of the economy. I was recent graduate and a new mom. I had a whole new responsibility and couldn’t see how I would be able to provide my son with the financial stability I knew raising a child required. I had just gotten my first job in tech but seeing the amount of tech layoffs and how one second someone could be stable and the next worried about how to pay their bills really scared me. So I decided I needed to have something of my own, something that i could depend on.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business SeasonsBestByResa is a faith based shop, where we sell everything from apparel, to cups, mugs, stickers and more. One thing that sets us apart is the fact that all of our products are centered around showcasing your faith and belief in the lord. When i started my business i wrestled with the decision of whether to make my business faith based or not. I didn’t know how it would be perceived by others or if I was making the right decision. I started off selling seasonal items and then I slowly began add more faith based items until finally every item in my shop revolved around my belief in the lord.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a good brunch or just breakfast food in general, so if my best friend was coming in town, I’d take her on an early morning hike at one of the many trails located in and around Atlanta such as Nortside Trail or Morningside nature preserve. Afterwards we’d go home get dressed and head out to Atlanta breakfast club for brunch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a shout out to my mom. When I decided to start this business she was my biggest support system. She encouraged me to keep going when things got hard and was the main reason I never gave up.
