We had the good fortune of connecting with Ursula Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ursula, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember that no matter what someone says or does, you are a beautiful, excellent, amazing, unique, talented, intelligent, fabulous, unstoppable, and leader person. It is not how many times you fall, but how many times you get up. When you know and understand that, you are able to peacefully accomplish a lot more. Helping people know their worth and providing skills and tactics that individuals need to have a healthy mental state. Having wisdom is great, but sharing wisdom is phenomenal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In terms of my work, I facilitate family team meetings and work as a therapist. In addition, I host a radio show “Talk About It Tuesday” along with DJ Tremayne on 107.9 The Beat in Valdosta. In addition, I contribute to the podcast “Myxin It Up With The Crew.” I am the founder and director of the non-profit I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. FUTURE QUEENS girls mentoring program in addition to my professional life. Being a single mother who can effectively juggle all of those responsibilities makes me feel unique. I want to encourage all women, but especially single mothers, to realize that no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, you can still pursue your dreams. I take pride in supporting and helping other women. Being a single mother is not easy, but it has taught me that if I do not make it happen, then who will? Despite doing all of these things, I’m always striving to accomplish more. Not only am I trying to improve myself, but I also want to continue to be successful. A big part of my decision to go back to school and get my master’s in marriage and family counseling came from these families that I mentor. I believe it is my responsibility to acquire the knowledge necessary to effectively support others in maintaining a healthy mental state and happy families.  I have learned that it is not how many times you fall but how many times you get back up. Life is what you make of it, and you learn from your mistakes and failures to get back up on your feet. It is crucial, in my opinion, to constantly remind yourself that everything that occurs in life contributes to fulfilling your purpose in life. The mission of I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. FUTURE QUEENS is to raise awareness among young ladies that they are beautiful, excellent, amazing, unique, talented, intelligent, fabulous, unstoppable, and a leader. We will increase the number of queens in the world by helping these young ladies develop a belief of self-worth, confidence, self-motivation, self-determination, and self-respect for themselves and others. I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. FUTURE QUEENS believes that making the world a better place starts within. We also believe self-love and leading by example are essential for effectively helping others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy being around positive people who like to have fun. I enjoy going on vacations in a beach-type setting. I love Italian and seafood, but I enjoy trying new things and places as well. I would go to the places that are best recommended in the area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly would like to thank all of the young ladies of I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L and the other mentors that help with the non-profit girls mentoring program. No only has the mentoring program helped the young ladies, but it has also helped the other queens that help mentor the young ladies. These young ladies keep me motivated and brings out the best in me. I know I have so many of them looking up to me and I understand that it is my responsibility to truly lead by example.

I would like to shoutout and thank my daughter, Camille Atkinson, for being the inspiration and motivation for everything I do. The love and support that I receive from her is indescribable. Most children would not want to share their mom with so many other girls, but she enjoys helping and building relationships with other girls. She sees them as her sisters, and that is the goal. For my daughter to tell me that when she gets older she wants to be the leader of I AM B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. FUTURE QUEENS ensured me that starting this program was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I would also like to shoutout my mom for always reminding me that this is my purpose in life when things are not so easy. She has shown me that no matter how old I get, the support matters just as much as it would if I were five years old. I am truly blessed to have my mom, Latrell Clark, supporting me in everything I do. I am truly blessed to say that I have made my mom proud.
