We had the good fortune of connecting with Elijah Neeley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elijah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk is essential to anything you want to achieve in life. Without risk you will never know what your true potential is. If you aren’t willing to fail chasing a dream only you can see you will never truly become great.. I wouldn’t have a career today without risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a Worship Leader at Faith Church. I grew up singing Jazz, Gospel and Alternative Rock Music. My approach to melodies and song creation in general is different from most people. I believe I have a unique sound and tone vocally, due to thousands of hours of practice to get to where I am now. It was not easy at all. There were so many moments I wanted to quit along the way. I learned to never quit when you are rejected or when someone tells you no. All you need is one yes to change your life. I am also a Songwriter/Producer. I started making beats about two and a half years ago. I specialize in writing Country, R&B, Gospel, and Hiphop music.
I consider myself an example of what happens when you don’t quit even when life throws challenges your way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So to start off, I love eating Chick-fil-A that’s like my favorite fast food place haha. Since Missouri is known for its nature trails, I would then take them to Castlewood Park since that’s a great place to hike. After that, there’s a restaurant called Corner 17 in an area called “The Delmar Loop” here in STL. They have Chinese food and Boba tea and it’s amazing. We would spent some time at the crib playing video games. I love Call of Duty, Mortal Kombat, Tekken etc. There is also a jazz club here called the “Grandel Theatre”. They have amazing live music it’s one of my favorite places to check out new artists.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a lot to my Grandfather Kevin Burroughs- Neeley. He taught me everything I know how to do musically.
I also would like to thank Pastors David and Nicole Crank at Faith Church. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. FaithChurch taught me many skills and took a chance on me.
Also shoutout to my wife Victoria and my Son they are my motivation and support for everything I do.
