Meet Tayllar Simone | Servant of God, Artist, Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tayllar Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tayllar, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is God and my identity in which I have discovered through my relationship with God. Whether I am running a business, operating my personal brand, or launching a creative platform my purpose is what drives me and what I believe ultimately leads to my success. My purpose , I believe is to serve and be a representation and reflection of God in every room that I enter. This built in me a mindset and discipline to always strive for excellence and to prioritize purpose in an entirely different way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think of myself as an artist who expresses the truth. Music for me has always been an outlet as a way to express the feelings I couldn’t understand. Growing up in Philly was rough for me. As a child I faced a lot of challenges inside and outside my home. Music felt like my spirit’s guiding me through what I was experiencing and helping me understand what I was feeling. It is what helped me and my sister formulate our group today SimoneXMonet. We recently just released our first ever singles out now on all platforms which I couldn’t be more excited about. We also are working on our first album set to release this fall. I am also working on my first solo project called The Truth Shall Set You Free. I can’t wait for people to hear what I’ve been working on because it truly is the truth of the beautiful lessons that I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older. If there was one thing I would want people to know about my art it would be that I always strive to be real ans true which I think is a lost art in this generation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to Colony Square where we could relax and then get some ice cream from Jenny’s. Then I would take them to Poor Calvins to grab some of the best lobster Mac N cheese and then head to Peters St. Station for their live open mic. Then we would definitely spend time on campus in the AUC so they could get a taste of the HBCU experience which is like no other. I would also show them downtown ATL where I live and some of my favorite spots to eat and hang out at. I would wrap the tour up with a trip to Vybehouse Studios, the creative studio that I work at that truly is the cities hidden gem.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to shoutout my parents and my sisters for raising me in a way that allowed me to have my own identity and find myself. Especially my mom she taught me the importance of service and community and why taking care of other people is so essential to the success of our community. Obviously, I have to shout out many of my close friends like Milaj Robinson and A’nia Stevenson for always speaking into me as a woman and as a leader. I’d also like to shoutout my organization AUC Philly Club for giving me the opportunity to serve them and make an impact in our community. Last but not least, I have to give all thanks to God who has given me everything.
