We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Gathers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Troy, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important business decision I made was moving to Atlanta, Georgia. Living in Atlanta Georgia, is a cheatcode for dreamers and believers. I’m not saying moving away from your current location is necessary for you but it may be the key to the door you’re attempting to open. My move to Atlanta worked wonders in my life. With over a decade under my belt now, I’m well settled in. Your dream may be in need of a relocation.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, of course the journey wasn’t easy, there were many obstacles that I had to overcome. The most important assignment is having faith and pushing through, even when you’re the only person that can see the vision. Currently, I have written & published 9 book titles. I’ve also given speeches at colleges, prisons and churches. The longer that you pursue your goals, you will begin to see patterns in the behavior of others and you will begin to learn the lessons that you need to elevate your life. Ultimately, In order to get anywhere in life you’re gonna just have to do the work and take the hits along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll use this question to shamelessly plug my favorite restaurants Yard House, Big Daddy’s Soul food, Lostindasauce (College Park) American Deli, Maggiano’s and Walter’s Soul food.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my shoutout to my late Grandmothers. My Great-Grandmother’s name is Harriet Ladson and my Grandmother’s name is Lavinia Green. These ladies were the very first to believe in me and showered me with a love I still feel today in their absence.
