We had the good fortune of connecting with Jermaine Peguese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jermaine, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I founded Pathworth Consulting & Solutions with a core mission: to empower entrepreneurs. The name ‘Pathworth’ reflects the idea of journeying together and finding real value in every step our clients take. It’s about guiding people on a journey where they do more than just get by; they thrive, make smart choices, and grow.
I started my business journey at 10, diving into the world of business with an eagerness to learn and succeed. As I grew and furthered my education through college, I discovered that traditional education doesn’t fully equip business owners with what they really need. I noticed a significant gap in practical, essential skills that are crucial for business success. Which is why I established Pathworth – to bridge this gap and offer clear, effective consulting and marketing strategies that address the real challenges business owners face.
We’re all about practical help and real results. We assist with the basics, like business foundation and building a strong digital online presence. Now, I’m also developing special software for businesses – a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software that’s easy to use and really understands what businesses need to connect with their customers and grow.
At Pathworth, making a positive impact is our main goal. We’re committed to helping business owners with more than just tools; we give them the confidence to tackle their business challenges. Whether it’s offering advice, helping with business and personal budgeting, guiding them through credit consulting, or helping them understand artificial intelligence, we’re there. I love solving tough problems – it’s what I’m really good at. Plus, I enjoy sharing my knowledge through eBooks, workbooks, and programs to assist in any way possible.
Everything we do at Pathworth is built on trust, hard work, value, direction, success, growth, and learning. We’re not just a consulting firm; we’re your partner on this business journey, dedicated to your success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Let me share a bit more about the work I do and the path I’ve taken in my career. At the heart of my efforts is a deep desire to make a meaningful difference in my community. In my role as the Special Project Manager at the Detroit Branch NAACP, I spearhead projects that have a direct impact on people’s lives. This ranges from empowering youth with essential skills for their future to leading major events promoting justice and freedom in Detroit.
My work extends beyond the conventional nine-to-five—it’s a commitment to being there for my community in every way possible, whether that’s aiding in food distribution during challenging times or contributing to various local organizations. It’s more than a job; it’s a calling that brings profound fulfillment.
In addition to my role at the Detroit NAACP, I was deeply involved in New Leaders Council Detroit, where I serve on the board. My role there is focused on recruiting and changing the lives of over 50 emerging leaders, offering them guidance and opportunities to grow.
My path through education was not a straight line—I completed my college education at 31, which serves as a testament to the idea that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
I’m also a founding member and current President of Recession Proof Extreme Inc., Michigan Chapter, where I lead a vibrant community of entrepreneurs. Here, I emphasize the power of unity and shared goals, offering my resources and knowledge to support others in their entrepreneurial journeys. At the core of my work is a commitment to listen, solve problems efficiently, and foster supportive environments that nurture growth and connection.
These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy and connection, driving me to develop initiatives that offer genuine support to those in need. My aim is to use my life to create as much positive impact as possible, inspiring others to also make a difference in their communities.
I hope my journey inspires others to discover their own paths to making an impact, showing that with dedication, empathy, and a focus on community, we can all play a part in creating a better world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When a friend visits, I must hit them with the “Whatup Doe!” then we can jump straight into the Detroit’s fun. I love showing them how the city has changed and all the cool new places we can go.
We start in downtown Detroit, where everything’s happening. We check out old spots and new ones, like cool restaurants and bars. If there’s a game on, as a season ticket holder we might go see the Pistons or Lions play live. But there’s more to Detroit than just sports.
One of the highlights I insist on sharing is Splatter, a unique and thrilling painting experience. It’s not just an outing; it’s a blast for anyone looking for a creative twist. The atmosphere is fantastic, with friendly staff, great music that you can pick, and an endless supply of painting materials. It’s a spot I highly recommend for a dose of fun and creativity. (Tell them Jermaine sent you)
Then, we might grab a bite at Green Dot, then hit up some cool speakeasies. My friend Kenny’s place, District 78, is always a good time with great food and drinks. If the weather’s nice, we’ll find a rooftop lounge for awesome views. If it’s chilly, there are lots of cozy spots to hang out.
Detroit’s got all kinds of food, from Shell Shocked tacos to other local treats. I want my friend to try a bit of everything, to really get a feel for the city’s vibe.
So, a week with me in Detroit is all about experiences, trying great food, and exploring the city’s energy. It’s about seeing what’s new and enjoying our time together.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve got a lot of people to thank who’ve been there for me. First up, a big thank you to God and my amazing mom Linda Dee. She’s been gone for nearly two years, but her love and lessons still guide me every day. She was always cheering me on, no matter what, and her spirit keeps me going strong.
I also need to give a huge shoutout to the incredible network of folks who’ve had my back. To my professional buddies and the entrepreneurial community, your partnership and advice mean everything to me. To my family and friends, thanks for sticking by me through all the ups and downs, for all the sacrifices you’ve made, and for getting the crazy hours and hard work I put in.
A special thanks goes out to my girl, who’s been a rock for me. And to my colleagues at the Detroit Branch NAACP, thanks for letting me lead and be creative. Your trust is everything to me.
Big love to my best friends and professional peers, especially my pops, who’s been a wise and steady force in my life. Your support is a gift I never take for granted.
This shoutout is for all of you. Your love and support drive me forward every single day. You all inspire me and keep me motivated. I’m so grateful to have each of you in my life. Thanks for being a part of my story.
