We had the good fortune of connecting with Zakirah Abdul-Hameed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zakirah, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
When it comes to conventional advice surrounding women’s health, I wholeheartedly disagree with the belief that our physical well-being is solely determined by our DNA and genetics. This perspective often limits itself to only looking at the tangible aspects, unfairly pointing to conditions like infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, or irregular cycles and suggesting there are ‘flaws’ in our DNA. However, my perspective is different.

I firmly believe in a more holistic understanding—one that acknowledges the interconnectedness between our mind, body, and soul. As women, we are holistic beings with individualistic life experiences that deeply shape our overall well-being. I do not believe we can improve women’s health by only treating and silencing symptoms. Instead, let’s focus on nurturing the complete essence of a woman.

By acknowledging the profound impact of societal oppression on women’s health, we recognize how systemic inequalities contribute to stressors that can manifest in physical dis-eases, emphasizing the need for a holistic healing approach. By honoring the connectivity between her mental, physical, and spiritual self, there will be intergenerational healing. The journey toward well-being involves a whole-person personalized care approach, fostering a harmonious relationship with our bodies, and nurturing the divine connection to our wombs. This, I believe, is the key to unlocking the transformative power of feminine wellness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Lamis Womb Care, our dedication to holistic feminine wellness sets us apart by celebrating the beauty of women in their entirety through our whole-person personalized care approach. What truly distinguishes us is our commitment to addressing not only individual well-being but also dismantling systemic barriers that oppress women as a collective, contributing to the health disparities affecting them today.

Our pride stems from the thriving community we serve, witnessing the impactful progress and healing of women who have embraced Lamis Womb Care. The testimonials and stories of transformation are a testament to the positive impact we’ve had on the lives of the women in our community. Our journey wasn’t without challenges, as we navigated the delicate balance of serving the community authentically. True humility led us to listen, collaborate, and adapt our approach based on the actual needs of the people we serve. This process of collaboration taught us a powerful lesson: the true strength lies in collective efforts and co-creating solutions with the community.

At Lamis Womb Care, we transcend being just a brand; we are a living testimony to the profound transformation possible when we prioritize the voices and needs of the people we serve. Our mission is not just about products; it’s about fostering a movement that advocates for holistic well-being, dismantles oppressive systems, and empowers women to thrive in every aspect of their lives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I adore Atlanta for its diverse offerings catering to everyone’s tastes! I’d guide my friend through some of my favorite culinary gems like Wadada Healthy Market & Juice Bar and Slutty Vegan ATL—both proudly owned by Black women, offering not only scrumptious dishes but also incredible vibes.

A day of pampering is a must, so we’d indulge in rejuvenating full-body massages at a spa. Nature preserves have become my sanctuary for grounding and releasing tension, so a visit to one would be on the agenda.

To explore my favorite spots in the city, I’d take them for a stroll through Atlantic Station or Little Five Points, each offering a unique experience and something for everyone to love.

Atlanta, with its vibrant culinary scene, spaces for self-care, and diverse neighborhoods, truly captures the essence of what makes the city so special to me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and inspiration from the incredible community of women who have played a pivotal role in shaping my journey. Their resilience, wisdom, and shared experiences have been a guiding light in both my personal and entrepreneurial endeavors. Additionally, I want to dedicate this shoutout to the empowering voices within the holistic health and feminine wellness space that have fueled my passion and commitment. Their invaluable insights, mentorship, and encouragement continue to drive me toward achieving my goals. It’s a testament to the power of collective strength and the transformative impact of supportive communities.
