We had the good fortune of connecting with Cierra Garner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cierra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up in a household with sisters to look up to, I’ve watched any and everything dealing with cosmetics from learning how to use the curling iron at age 7 to doing a full face of makeup during middle school. (for practice purposes of course) At the age of 14, doing hair became second nature. I would then be asked to style family members as well as friends for events, holidays etc. Starting my own business was the next step into becoming financially free, which is my ultimate goal. I thought to myself, ” why not do something you love, are talented at and get paid for it”? and thats when I knew that becoming a part time hairstylist was called upon me.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being an hairstylist, indie music artist, and actress along with working full time at a property management company and working part time for one of the biggest airlines, speaks for itself. I pride myself in being what I’d like to call, a human octopus. Some days I can admit that I’m exhausted but as for others I truly enjoy the qualities I possess and many talents I’m blessed to showcase. I am the most excited about what the future holds, giving me that motivation and drive to perfect my craft. I started working at the age of 15, so Ive solely got to where I am today professionally by going after any and every opportunity leaving room for growth and teachable moments, I can honestly say its never easy and for that I’m made stronger. Throughout the years I’ve learned a multitude of things, however 3 things stood out to me in particular. 1) Never shy away from what you love because it doesn’t fit in someone else’s box. 2) Always give yourself grace and always express gratitude. 3) In a world where money rules, money doesn’t rule you. I would like the world to know that one day my voice will carry and touch souls beyond just me and you, and that’s when I’ll know my work here is just about done.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My life has been a constant journey filled with people coming in and out that have impacted me in more ways than one. Although those interactions play a major part in who I am today, truthfully there is no sole person who I would dedicate my success to because its not a who but a what, who inspires me and gives me the push to become my best self. Throughout my life the one thing that has remained consistent, motivated me and has given me the strength to persevere, is the amazing man above. When I would long for support from friends, family etc. God gave me everything I needed and more. So I would like shoutout God for never letting me give up and for always being one call away.
