We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Maguire and Jami Lancaster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen and Jami, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We would say one of the most important factors is continuing to give the community events that caters to a wide range of our demographic. A space where you can be yourself. Having a welcoming space for all is everything to Jami and I.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Atlanta’s number one lesbian bar for more than 28 years, My Sister’s Room is the favorite destination for lesbians, QUEER, LBGTQ, and the gay friendly Atlanta community since 1996. Lesbian owned – now and always – My Sister’s Room is renowned across the South and the world for it’s fun, friendly atmosphere and all around good vibes!
We are a lesbian bar where everyone is welcome! A safe haven and home to everyone who enters. Nightly drag shows, burlesque shows, comedy, karaoke, and more. Oh and not to mention the best wings in Atlanta!

We love all of our patrons and hope you follow us along in this beautiful journey. Visit us and say Hi!

-Jen & Jami

We purchased the bar 13 years ago. One of the things that has not been easy for us is that we’ve had to move four times.
either due to the rise in rent cost or being torn down for condos coming into the city.

We’ve been fortunate enough to have a following that literally has supported us at every location and we are very grateful for that.
We think what sets us apart from everybody else is being able to evolve with our events.

We take pride in being a space where you can be yourself.
We welcome everyone in our LGBTQ plus community. This is a place that is a second home or chosen family and we love that about MSR..

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would take them to the beltline. Hit up some local restaurants/bars. Of course we would take them to My Sisters Room for some dancing and amazing Drag shows.. Probably also stop by the IPIC movie theater, which is one of my favorite places to watch a movie in colony square.
One of my favorite restaurants to go to that vegetarian friendly is Eclipse to Luna in Buckhead. Great atmosphere and music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a shout out to the LGBTQI plus community who has supported us for almost 30 years. We couldn’t do it without you all and our amazing staff. Jen and Jami ❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
