We had the good fortune of connecting with Koddi Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Koddi, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a mom of 7 in a blended family, my husband Wade and I have had many kitchen table conversations about the state of the world, and what could we do to make things better for our children. It was during one of those conversations several years ago, that I asked him a pivotal question. Without much lead way, I turned to him and said, “What is something that we could do, that brings together a service that everyone needs, but we could leverage as a tool to give back?” I saw his face light up as those words hit the air, and ten minutes later – we were talking through the concept of LOVE Mobile, The Cellphone Company That Gives Back.

It has been an arduous process of research, investment, contracts, negotiations, meetings, and more, but I am happy to say that we are closer to launching LOVE Mobile than ever before. What we have done is created a framework of enterprise philanthropy. This means that every time someone pays their cell phone bill with LOVE Mobile, we make a donation to four pillars: education, the environment, community services, and pet care. We believe that LOVE Mobile will be an industry disrupter, and we are excited to approach GTM (go to market) status soon. Right now, we are in BETA, but the waitlist is ready and growing! That’s exciting too because it’s letting us know that there is a demand for what we are endeavoring to do!

What should our readers know about your business?
Wade and I have been entrepreneurs for over a decade. However, this meant that we were locked out of a lot of traditional methods of obtaining our goals. While others were taking trips to Mexico, we were buying servers and launching operations protocols. There were so many years of trying your best, and giving it your all, only to scrape by and hopefully cover the rent. By the time our kids were older, the business picked up, but our dreams were just getting started.

We were making more money than ever before, but still every extra dime beyond our necessities was spent investing in and bootstrapping our dreams. One year, on a quest to learn more about the telecom industry, we purchased plane tickets, and traveled to Las Vegas to attend the largest telecom conference for our market. Within two years, after being connected, we were invited to speak and share our best marketing practices to other telecom business owners at that same annual conference! They wanted to know what we knew about online marketing as technology professionals, all the while we were there and returned each year, to grasp a better understanding of the industry that by now we were heavily invested in.

So often friends (and sometimes family), failed to understand the moves that we were making, but we learned to take their doubt in stride. It wasn’t their dream to begin with, so why put the pressure on them to build us up? Wade and I leaned on each other, and ultimately our faith, to help us navigate challenging times. I live by the mantra that FAITH requires ACTION, and so if I am to live by FAITH then it is shown when I take the next step forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As someone who is from metro Atlanta, I love experiencing how it has evolved over the years. My favorite spots however have a bit of old school and new school charm, that never goes out of style. I am always game for a plate of Alfredo from the Marietta Diner or a nice dessert of Creme Brulee from the Sundial.

As a mom, I believe in investing in moments, so before I buy expensive purses or shoes, I would and have bought family passes for the Georgia Aquarium. I feel like I am teleported into another world standing in front of the big tank with Belugas swimming by, and then returning to say hi. That place is magical.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would be to my amazing family and community. My parents, Steve and Marilyn Lester are retired ministers from Cobb County, and they instilled in me (and my sisters), that if you work hard, pray hard, and treat people right – good things will happen.

I would also shoutout my husband Wade Dunn Jr., and our beautiful family. We have five adult children, and two kiddos remaining at home. We have cultivated an environment of love, joy, and a lot of fun. I tell people all the time that my favorite place in the world is literally inside the family chat.

Although we all live in different areas, and “kids” range from ages 27 to 7, we connect with a joke, laugh, word of encouragement, or good memory… just about every day. It is a constant spring of goodness, and I am so blessed that those beautiful people, lovingly call me Mom. It’s my safe place.
