Meet Tiffany Gibson | Nursing Professional Development Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Gibson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind me starting my own business was to fill a gap that’s noted in nursing. There is a disconnect between the humanity of nurses and what nurses are expected to do, and how we’re supposed to perform and show up. And while I started my business a couple through my own business and personal development that how I showed up as a coach needed to be in alignment with how I wanted my clients to show up for themselves. I started my business to help nurses and to separate me being Professor Tiff from business Tiff as I was working with my students. But ultimately it really is to fill a gap that’s needed and to provide support for nurses who are taxed in every way possible but are still expected to show up and provide efficient and compassionate care.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a pediatric nurse I have two specialty certifications, 3 college degrees and am a registered masters prepared registered nurse. and all of that is fun and all – it’s cute, and I really enjoy being a nurse. But what I’m most proud of and excited about is that I get to coach nurses to raise their consciousness to be their best selves so that they can show up and be the best nurse. I am the nurse’s nurse. I am excited about helping nurses personally and professionally because ultimately that provides best patient outcomes. Nursing is a hard job, and it’s a role that entangles with our identity and our obligation to always be kind and compassionate. A lot of times nurses as people are not prioritized. I love that what I do professionally as a nurse manager and also in my business as a consultant, coach and educator, is to show nurses how to prioritize themselves so that they can be amazing for their patients and their own families. And this task is not easy. Nursing is very traditional and hierarchical profession, and what I’m doing is unconventional. Overcoming these challenges included me getting my own mentor, working on my emotional intelligence and self-awareness and surrendering my gift. I would be very selfish in keeping my gift to myself. I understand that I have the power to influence inspire and impact nurses to be their best their best selves by using emotional intelligence, and that’s how I overcome my challenges. Lessons I’ve learned along the way – you’ll lose yourself if you don’t find yourself so you should keep yourself to yourself until you do. What I mean is emotional intelligence is the answer to every hurdle and obstacle I’ve gone through. Emotional intelligence helps me to understand that my perception of problems and and the value that I pace on stress starts with me. And my mission is helping Nurses prioritize themselves and not lose their humanity while in service for others. I want to be known for pioneering emotional intelligence in this space.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I come to Atlanta it’s a visit, I’d like to really pamper myself and treat myself to the luxurious things that I don’t get to do every day. I’m a mom of two one of them being a little one year old, and I am a full-time nurse so when I get to travel to Atlanta, I try to do so alone. I make time to visit the spa at the Ritz Carlton hotel, have lunch and hang out at the lobby bar.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love that I get an opportunity to shout out my business bestie, my business mentor, my friend Irnise Williams. Irnise has stretched my thinking and holds me accountable on days where I can’t see the forest from the trees. Her support, mentorship, love and encouragement for me to continue ruffling feathers and being radical in my industry is why i am where I am today. So shout out Irnise Williams. Thank you!
