Meet John Walton | Director, Producer & Music Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with John Walton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from a small town in Middle;Georgia call Forsyth Georgia.. Monroe Co between Atlanta & Macon.. population of 4000. I grew up around a lot of strong, black women that I learned a lot from.. I watched them gather the community. I watch them feed the community. I watch them be like a parent figure to children that weren’t even their children. They took a lot of us places that we never would’ve gone if they hadn’t cared enough to do it for us.. I guess I picked up a lot of the characteristics without knowing until later in life, but for the most part being in a small town with no inspiration and motivation, I think the TV inspired me to be more, because that was all I had.

Jon Clawd is a man that stands confidently in many roles. Family being his foundation, Jon has successfully become an example of what hard work and dedication can do despite any troubled background you come from. As a true visionary, he has written, directed, and acted in several of his own movies. Incorporating real life experiences with his eye for cinema, Jon has given out countless opportunities and has empowered a lot of his own people. Taking them from the streets to the big screen. Jon Clawd has proven himself to be nothing short of inspiring.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got here by never giving up, not making excuses taking every no as motivation taking every doubt as fuel and just looking at the people around me understanding that we deserve better try my best not being afraid to ask not being discouraged by the noise just trying my best every single day to continue to shoot until the ball finally goes in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love cigar lounges when I am hanging with my friends. I also love rooftop lounges. I love a good chill spot with nice vibes and fun people. When I am hanging with my family we go to centennial Olympic park and hit up mellow mushroom in the city. My wife and I love to find nice takeout spots that serve great food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife LeighAnn and my daughter Leiah. They are my motivations to create and push harder everyday. I do it for them. I do it for us.
