We had the good fortune of connecting with Bennett Topps and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bennett, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal with Sip and Swerve is to have a business that completely replaces a full time income I would make if I worked your typical 9-5. I have always wanted and needed more time with my kids and now that I am focusing on growing this business 100% I am able to spend quality time with my family. My end goal is for our business to be something our kids can take over when they are grown and have their own families. I would also love to partner with a variety of venues and become their preferred bartender.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We have been in business since 2017 under the business “The Lucky Shot” where we specialized in event/wedding bartending. In January 2024 we purchased a mobile bar(this has been in the works for 2 years) and went through a rebranding, shoutout to our marketing Queen at “creative muse” if it weren’t for her our social media would not look as good. Our first year we weren’t very busy, but we have successfully been hired for 50+ events a year for 6 years straight and we’re so blessed. Sometimes it gets very tiring but it’s also so much fun to get to be a part of someone’s event, whether it’s a wedding reception, birthday, anniversary or corporate event, we always try to connect with who we’re hired by to build a genuine connection.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m definitely a homebody so this is tough. I love Gainesville, Ga and really you can’t go wrong. We’d probably start on the square and just have drinks around the square, maybe some snacks and do a little shopping.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Larry deserves a lot of credit. If it weren’t for him I never would have started bartending privately. He pushed me to branch out from the restaurant I was working in and start my own business and has always encouraged me to grow. We recently purchased a mobile bar trailer and that’s all thanks to him. He has always supported any dream I’ve had. My parents also are the heroes, they are always up for keeping our kids for us to go to an event and I’m forever thankful for that.
