We had the good fortune of connecting with Nasser & Aysha Nammari & Abdullatif and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nasser & Aysha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is crucial to our journey, shaping how we navigate the fine line between comfort and the unknown.

Nasser’s remarkable journey defies the notion of risk aversion, showcasing a profound willingness to embrace uncertainty. From living in nine countries and various U.S. cities, his global odyssey reflects a rare adventure that shapes a unique perspective. With over 16 years in hospitality, managing operations for prestigious hotels like The Westin and Hilton, Nasser establishes a solid foundation in leadership. His daring pivot to the tech world, engaging with industry giants like Amazon, Grove, and Warner Media, showcases adaptability. Venturing into entrepreneurship marks a new milestone, a culmination of varied experiences, skills, and an unwavering belief in embracing uncertainty for growth and success.

On the other hand, Aysha, born and raised in the South, is no stranger to risks, having held diverse staffing positions in NY, Seattle, and Toronto. She brings a wealth of expertise with over fifteen years of professional experience in communications, staffing, and recruiting. As the CEO and founder of Ayeworld, a creative marketing and communications agency, Aysha is highly skilled in business and marketing strategy. Her pride in planting roots with her family in Atlanta, where she was a Georgia Tech alumna, adds a personal touch to her narrative, reflecting a commitment to community and growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Spherion Northeast Atlanta is a local staffing and recruiting agency with a focus on temporary staffing, temp-to-hire, direct hiring, on-premise staff management and outsourced talent acquisition. Our mission is to drive careers, grow businesses and better the communities we call home through matching the right candidate with the right employer.

Most people probably aren’t aware of the critical role staffing agencies play in both creating workforce flexibility and adaptation. Specifically, we can absolutely see that during sensitive market conditions, staffing agencies allow for companies to have more flexibility in scaling up or down based on their own environmental demands. In turn, businesses can stay responsive and agile to changes with a trusted staffing partner to help facilitate their workload needs.

Choosing to leave a stable job to start our Spherion business, especially one providing financial security to our family, was a hard decision, to say the least. It required us to take a concrete “jump” with both feet (both sets of our feet) into starting our Spherion Atlanta NE office. It was a thoughtful process for both of us. Nasser, after five years of careful consideration, aligned his passions and work experiences through thorough research. Meanwhile, Aysha, with her background in marketing and having already launched her agency and e-commerce sites, saw it as a natural progression. Our choice of business model centered on low capital investment, utilizing startup funds for operations rather than equipment or construction. We also factored in long-term success rates & community involvement, leading us to the path of Spherion.

As husband-and-wife business partners, marrying each other has probably been the single most important decision that has contributed to our success, both in life and in business. Jokes aside, the partner you choose to go into business with can impact everything, so that was a very big decision but also one that has helped lay a solid foundation for us to build upon.

Determination is another critical component to overcoming the challenges you will inevitably face when starting a business. We would say “resilience” but with determination to ride through the rocky waves, the “no’s,” and the speed bumps that inevitably come along with starting a business– we stay focused on what our goals are to make sure we can always figure out a path through and forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The day would start with getting breakfast/brunch at Le Petit Marche in Kirkwood. From there, we would take them to Ponce City Market to check out some shopping and walk the Beltine from there. We would walk the Beltline to Piedmont Park to hang out there if the weather is nice. We’ve rented bikes at Piedmont Park before, which is a fun way to spend an hour exploring Atlanta’s biggest park, and would see if our friend is up for biking around the park for an hour. From there, we’re members at The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, which sits right on Piedmont Park, and we could grab lunch at the Gardens restaurant and have a beautiful view of Atlanta while doing so, before going to explore the Gardens and the greenhouses. At night, we would take them to a beautiful, long-standing family-owned restaurant, Il Localino (where we had our 1st date) to enjoy some delicious Italian food. Afterwards, we would take our friend to check out Atlanta’s Illuminarium, to see their interactive space exhibits. They have a really good bar there too, so we can grab some drinks while enjoying the immersive experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We really gave this one some thought to consider who/what had the biggest impact. This is going to sound cheesy but we have truly been each other’s biggest supporters, encouragers, and mentors. We coach each other, cheer each other on, and lean on each other when faced with challenges. Had we not ever met, neither of us are sure if we still would have gotten to the point we are at now, in our individual professional careers and in our joint partnership building Spherion Atlanta NE up.
