We had the good fortune of connecting with Zo Okoye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process on starting my business was indeed an emotional roller coaster. I could barely sleep! One minute I’m nervous, anxious and scared. The other minute I’m excited, passionate, and determined! My mind was constantly going 1000 mph off this one idea. I talked to my friends about it pretty much everyday to the point where I know for a fact they stopped answering my calls. The idea was just an idea at this point that I just could not shut up about. Then one day I called my boy book and he’s said “when are you going to stop talking about it, and do it? Scared money, doesn’t make any money!” and literally that night I was up til 5 am looking at vendors and negotiating pricing. After that day, I never looked back. I put my best foot forward and have been going strong ever since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well everybody knows one source of income is just not enough in todays economy so right now I am a Financial Advisor at Chase during the day but I am currently in the process of transitioning into Tech. I want to be a Cloud Security Engineer so I am currently moving in that direction slowly but surely. At night I Host on the mic, promote, and help orchestrate some of the biggest parties together in Atlanta. Now I know you’re like, wait how did you get into that if you work at the bank?? Well, I actually been on the mic since college at Valdosta State and when I moved back to Atlanta I linked with my brother Dj Money Maal and he introduced me into the night life in Atlanta. He saw I was hungry and had such an amazing support system we formed a promotional group called Foreva Solid ENT with our boy Sauce and started taking over the city. Because to be honest, everybody loves a good party where they can be themselves, let loose and have fun so being able to provide a lit and safe environment to do so has allowed me and my team to grow in this industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to go to dave & busters and andretti’s in my free time. The drinks mixed with the games always brings out the competitiveness in people and its fun to see. I recently fell in love with six flags as well, and if you know me i actually hate roller coasters! I always stayed away from them because the heights and the drop in my stomach but as of lately I have turned into a dare devil and fell in love with the batman. After all the fun and games and its time to eat, I will definitely be hitting one of my favorite spots, Pappadeaux for that Mardi Gras Pasta.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, everybody who has supported me in my journey, reposted a flyer, shopped with me, told somebody about me. Shout out to them & I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart! But a special shout out to my team, Genesis, Niya, and Book because they helped me make my initial investment with Airpax when I didn’t have the funds to start my business so without them, none of this would honestly be possible!
