We had the good fortune of connecting with Meech Jennings and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meech, how do you think about risk?
The word ‘risk’ can bring on an intimidating connotation but I believe that risk is the reason we find growth in the things we do. I’ve always believed that if my dreams don’t scare me, they’re not big enough. This has made me to mold my dreams beyond what my thoughts could imagine. I went from doing what’s asked of me from clients to trying to challenge the way I think and reinvent simple concepts into beautifully complex pieces. I started to try to find a story in my ideas and capture photos in that light. Once I did that, I began to truly see the difference in what I do. This risk felt scary at first but it’s truly brought my work to another level. It’s brought me more joy in my work and more to look forward to as a creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew to know that what sets me apart as a freelance photographer is that I am multifaceted. That’s been a huge part of my brand and how I’m able to shift into what I’m called to do. This has allowed me so many opportunities and but it’s also brought the challenge of trying to find my personal style as a photographer.

This took a while to find and even discouraged me, but it moved me to find what photography truly looked and felt like to me. It made me experiment with photoshop tools and different mediums in graphics. I’ve expanded and it’s made me learn more in my art and allowed me to grow even more in love with it.

That’s what my brand, Meech Made Media, boils down to. Bringing different elements together to create a moment and story for every client that works with me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, there’s so many places to go where you could have a good time. Optimist Hall is always nice to hang out and get food. The Dumpling Lady is super good!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to all upcoming creatives that are finding their way. There’s so many people that deserve recognition and are worthy of sharing their voice with the world. I pray they’re given the platform, just as I was given, to share their stories and inspire others too.
