We had the good fortune of connecting with Miya Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Miya, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Understanding the importance of surrounding myself with people and spaces that would motivate me to want to stay focused on my business. It may be cliche to say that “being around people that will challenge you” but it is truly a statement that is worth taking heed to. I have had the opportunity to learn different skills, improve my conversation skills, and increase my confidence by being around people who can hold me accountable and inspire me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been an entrepreneur for over 6 years now, and I am still working towards where I want to be. However, I do believe at the age I am at in life, I am beyond proud of myself for continuing to push through the challenges of becoming an Entrepeneur and not giving up on my dreams. “Pushing through” I think is one of the hardest challenges you will face when you decide to enter into the business realm on your own. Although throughout the process of going through the ups and downs of owning a business, I do believe it has built within me tenacity, drive, dedication, a sense of fearlessness, pride, and a little bit of delusion which are all elements you need to become a beast in the industry of business entrepreneurship.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta has so much to offer. So, if me and my best friend had a weekend. It would definitely look like; Brunch at Toast on Lenox Buckhead Location, then Massages at Woodhouse Spa in Atlanta, after that we would do something adventurous like the Insight Virtual Experience and do shooting at their virtual gun range. We would then go head to dinner and finish the day with candlelight dinner at Marcel’s. The perfect restaurant for some good seafood and steak.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would like to dedicate this to my sister Brittni Martin founder of non-profit organization Build Yourself Up Org. Have you ever had a person that you know is always going to speak highly of you. Always going to support and REFER you. As business owner, we all know referrals is what keeps are business alive.

However, I say all that to say my sister Brittani is that person for me. Many opportunities I have had for my business has been influenced by her. She is greatly appreciated and one who deserves her flowers.
