We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Dimock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My initial aspiration was to establish a business that provided a limitless creative environment, free from the constraints imposed by non-creative individuals. Originally conceived as a music label, 30 Below gradually expanded its scope to encompass the production of short films.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What distinguishes me is my unconventional approach. I prioritize natural performances and encourage my actors to view our films from a fresh perspective.

One of my proudest achievements is providing a platform for aspiring actors and actresses who are interested in the industry.

I reached this point by consistently seeking innovative ways to create and overcoming the challenge of limited resources.

I always advise others to take action, even if it means taking on all the responsibilities themselves and not waiting for others. This was the path I chose, and once I started, I realized it was more manageable than I initially thought.

I learned to rely on myself and surround myself with individuals who appreciate progress. The right people will naturally gravitate towards you.

I want the world to understand that success doesn’t happen overnight. It requires continuous dedication and effort towards your goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It varies depending on the city I am currently living in. If I happen to be in Atlanta, I would choose to take them on a memorable tour. Our first stop would be The MLK Center, where we can explore and learn about the inspiring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. After that, we would head to my personal favorite wing spot called “Cafe Hotwings in Riverdale” to indulge in some delicious wings. Continuing our journey, we would visit the esteemed HBCU Schools in the area, including Morehouse, Spellman, Morris Brown, and Clark Atlanta. These institutions hold significant importance in the film industry, as they have served as filming locations for renowned movies like Stomp The Yard, Drumline, and School Daze. Clark Atlanta recently introduced a new media program.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my wife, Tracey Dimock, for her unwavering support and encouragement. Her belief in me has pushed me to reach new heights and strive for excellence in everything I do. I am truly grateful for her love and constant motivation.

I am also immensely grateful to Albert Simpson, who has been a mentor and a father figure to me throughout my life. His guidance and wisdom have been invaluable in shaping my character and helping me navigate through the challenges of life. I am forever indebted to him for his unwavering support and belief in my potential.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., the organization I am proud to be a part of. Their emphasis on professionalism and personal growth has played a significant role in shaping my values and work ethic. The fraternity has provided me with a strong support system and a network of like-minded individuals who have helped me stay focused and dedicated to my goals.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to my grandparents, Mildred and James Grady. Their love, wisdom, and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my character and teaching me important life lessons. I am forever grateful for the values they instilled in me and the impact they have had on my personal and professional growth.

Lastly, I would like to acknowledge the immense support and assistance I have received from my aunts, Sharon Gholar and Carrye Hodges. They have played a vital role in my upbringing, providing me with love, guidance, and a strong support system. Their unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of motivation and inspiration.

To all these important individuals and organizations, I want to express my deepest gratitude. Your contributions to my personal and professional growth have been immeasurable, and I am truly fortunate to have you in my life. Thank you for shaping me into the person I am today.
