We had the good fortune of connecting with Janel Nichole H and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janel, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
The first thing you have to acknowledge is that what you’re doing is bigger than you. It’s not about you whatsoever but about the people you are here to SERVE. There are people waiting and depending on you to do what God called you to do! How could you give up? First thing, remember why you started! Let that fuel you. Also understand that every day you won’t feel motivated to get things done or show up. That’s okay! This is where discipline steps in! You have to have discipline. Having discipline brought me this far. On the days I didn’t feel motivated, I had to have discipline to keep going! Whenever you have a moment in whether you should keep going or give up, just simply ask yourself “Why did I start?”
What should our readers know about your business?
I launched my business back in September 2018. ( Celebrated 5 years in business this year) What I initially thought, back then was just a “wig business” little did I know God was walking me into my ministry! Diamond Effect by JNichole was just my stepping stool to all the other opportunities that were yet to come! With Diamond Effect, I offer custom machine made wigs, wig courses and a best selling hair product. I am known for making wigs in under 15 minutes! I’ve been blessed to teach others my exact techniques to be able to do the same. Fortunately, I’ve had the opportunity to teach students all over the world! I currently have students from over 7 different countries!
Recently, I launched my new mentorship program called Impactful Direction which I am super excited about! It’s a mentorship program that helps people get back to the core of who they are! A reminder that everything they need is already within!
Running a business hasn’t been a walk in the park but it’s one of the most rewarding experiences. I’ve learned so much on my entrepreneurship journey. Not just about the business aspect but myself! I had to develop a high level of self discipline. I also had to recognize that what I had to offer was unique and that God gave it to me for a reason!
There’s so many lessons I’ve learned on this journey but the one that has helped me the most was not rushing things. I feel like with social media, we go off what we see and feel like we have to have things the same way and in the same time! You have to be careful with that. You can’t compare your year 2 to someone’s year 10. You want to focus on YOUR direction and NOT your speed!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I highly recommend checking out the Georgia Aquarium! Another great place to check out is Slutty Vegan! Love love their food and customer service!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my daughter! She keeps me going each and everyday! Back in 2019 I left my full time job to pursue my business full time. Just a month later, I found out I was pregnant. I remember the feeling I had in that moment. Wondering how would I run a business while being a first time mom at the same time! Fast forward to years later, my daughter has grown with me as I continue to build my brand. She gave me the extra push that I needed! I’m reminded everyday that I have someone looking up to me.
