Meet Stephanie Williams | Owner of 1972 The Salon

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe that authenticy has played a huge role in the success of my salon/brand. I was always taught to stay true to myself, but I never truly understood the impact of that until I became a business owner. To me, authenticity means that I have had to accept who I am and that I was given my vison for purpose. With help from my husband’s push, I had to dig deep to find the courage and self-confidence to share that with the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
1972 The Salon was named after my dad who passed away in November 2021. A good bit of detail went in to making my salon what it is. I knew I wanted people to feel at home when they walked in and feel a sense of peace and belonging. For me, I wanted to feel my dad’s presence. It has definitely been my “safe place” since his passing. We began the build out shortly after he passed away and we chose the name in honor of him, with 1972 being his birth year.
I am so proud of what 1972 The Salon has became in one short year. We have been a host salon for educators all over the country – some being from LA, Denver, Arizona, Tennessee, and Utah. Most classes have had 50-75 attendees from allover the world. Owning a salon has always been a dream of mine, but having a place that can continuously pour into others is where the joy comes. I look forward to the years ahead, because I have so many goals that I hope to accomplish for my team.
The past two years (one year being the build-out) has definitely been the most trying time of my life. I have had to learn to have patience and truly understand that everything happens with purpose. I have also learned that great things come to those who wait. I was told “no” by so many landlords before finding one who believed in me and saw my vison. Here we are one year opened and I can finally see everything unfolding so clearly. We have a wonderful team of artist and I hope to continue growing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a good one! I love to entertain – Let’s just say we were going to stay local to our side of Atlanta for the most part. My favorite spot at the moment is 1885 Grill in Acworth for dinner and then we could pop. over to The Fountain in Acworth after dinner for a few cocktails. We could stop by Tuesdays Coffee Shop in Marietta for coffee and a pastry then walk around downtown and visit all of the cute little shops. I love marietta for the history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Years before finding the courage to branch out on my own and open a salon, my husband was always cheering me on encouraging me. He definitely saw something in me that I was failing to see. I will forever be thankful for the love, encouragement, and support that he gave and continues to give me. None of this would be possible if he hadn’t keep pushing me to pursue my dreams. So, without a doubt, I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Austin, my husband. He deserves all of the recognition.
