We had the good fortune of connecting with Shonte Youmans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shonte, what do you attribute your success to?
I am a middle child, “The Generational Curse Breaker” from Reading, PA who moved to Allendale, South Carolina and I currently reside in North Carolina. I started my business with the intent to serve in the Credit Repair Industry, but that wasn’t my real passion because it was not God ordained. In 2020 I was diagnosed with COVID and I said, “God I want to live and not die” and it hit me that I needed to live out my God given dream! I prayed about it, and I was scared because I didn’t know the ins and outs of being a business owner. But I did it scared and without validation from anyone else but God!

I was called, designed and built for this! It was in me the whole time I just had  believe in myself, stop self-sabotaging and know that if God gave me a vision he will make the provisions. I had to start believing in myself and believe that I was enough! When I realized that my story was valuable and worthy of the world hearing I knew that I was destined to make an impact globally. So, I pivoted and took the steps to gain more training in Public Speaking which I had already studied in college to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. I obtained my Life Coaching certification. I had to unpack my story, face my fears, and heal my trauma. I am walking in my purpose and growing in it each day! Being a business owner for me isn’t about the recognition it’s about the service and the impact that I have on the people that I am called to serve.

I am the proud Founder and CEO of Fresh Start Consulting, driven to help individuals and business owners get their words right and own the power in their communications. I am Travel Business Owner and Network Marketer since 2021. I have been traveling since I was a young girl and always aspired to be a travel agent. But I let dream killers talk me out of it. I thought about for so long and I feared people not supporting me, self-doubt and I was unsure if I would be good enough. Again, I had to kick all the excuses to live out my dreams right, and I am so grateful that I did! I am a seasoned traveler but now I am Travel Business Owner that can help others become Travel Business Owners too.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am continually looking to learn and perfect my craft! I am always willing to be a student in order to be a better teacher. I enjoy learning the different perspectives of other businesses in other industries.

I understand that when I provide a service it must completed to the satisfaction of the client and sometimes that may be difficult. Difficult clients are a gut punch, and they shake your posture in how you are doing business. I specialize in communications and being present during conversations to understand every aspect of the message to have a reasonable outcome. I am passionate about showing up in a positive manner to make people feel like they are heard, understood, and appreciated when I am serving them instead of them having the perception that I am another black business owner  with a bad attitude! My heart is in this business, blood, sweat, and tears are in this because sometimes I want to give up, but I remember why I started in the first place! Life is a marathon not a race, so I embrace every moment.

I have shared my story in 3 published books,  #1 Best-Seller Lemonade Chronicles & Building with Fragments, and a contributing author in the #1 Best Seller and #1 International Best Seller Top Secrets of a Successful Mompreneur.

I started my speaking journey on the Her Fire platform hosted by Angela Brand. I speak on the Glow Global Luxurious Island Retreat virtually and in person in Barbados hosted by Dr. Dionne Greaves where I was coined with the name: The Voice.

I am currently accepting paid speaking engagements for 2024.

CommuniPower 8-week Group Coaching is open for new clients.

Business Bestie Virtual Networking Event being held on December 23. This event is for business owners with a product/service or both to offer and an opportunity to sell & promote their brand to attract new customers as well as new partnerships.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie so it will always be a restaurant depending on what I am in the mood to eat. It would be seafood, chicken or some good ole barbeque (I did live in South Carolina). If they like shopping, we would visit the local stores or maybe do something like sip & paint.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
