We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Strayhorn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Keeping my word for my agreements to myself and others. Prioritizing my health and fitness practices weekly Listening and implementing feedback from other coaches and mentors who are further along the path in the areas that I’m seeking to be more effective and powerful in. Being part of a community that is aligned with my values and beliefs for support and longevity.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career, my lifestyle, my “play” in life is that of a health and wellness coach that specializes in teaching and imbuing transformational lifestyle practices in the world of personal development. I’m in the world of personal expansion and evolution where people can become more connected to themselves. This can lead to more clarity, conviction, and courage to self-actualize in life. What sets me apart from others is that I enjoy looking at all parts of the human experience when comes to helping others with themselves: mentally, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and physically. Mind, body, and spirit. I choose this approach because this is how I flow in my own life. I see people as athletes in the game of life. This creates a more creative and fun approach to the work I do. What I’m most proud of and or excited about is that I get to discover and connect with people in a new way just about everyday. That I get the opportunity to help raise the vibration of the world in my own unique and loving way. I got to where I’m at now by following my highest values and beliefs about how I could continue to create the life I experience now. I studied a lot, embraced being mentored, received tons of feedback from people all around me and leaned into taking risks. It wasn’t easy. It was difficult at times. And it was fun, rewarding, challenging, transforming, meaningful, and worth it. The way I overcame the challenges was by facing the challenges head on and the fears as well. I embraced having a community around me that supports and loves me for who I am. Having community is probably the biggest factor that helped me overcome the adversities that I’ve had. It’s one of my biggest lessons along the way. Another lesson that I’ve learned along the way is the power of vulnerability and humility. There is always endless practice in areas for me and I’m grateful for that. Some things I would like the world to know about me is that I’m a ex-corporate employee that transitioned to the health and fitness world. My coaching brand is called “Stray From The Norm” as a play off my last name and the way in which I like to go off of the beaten path and do things that are not “normal”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A walk down the Beltline in the morning Bartaco over in Inman Park for lunch (tacos and drinks) A stroll through Piedmont Park in the evening (get a glimpse of the Atlanta skyline and people watch) A hike up Stone Mountain one early morning A visit to Ponce City Market to see some cool shops

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
