We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Pruett Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is simple, I am Godly driven. During my lifetime, I have found that certain experiences with both those who were Godly and those who were not, have help define who I am. Once I placed God first in my life, my plans were more easily found. He brought to light the things that were important and needed in order to succeed to reach the potential He had planned for me. Once He revealed His plans, I was able to see how futile my plans were, and at which point I aligned my vision with His in order to bring to life and succeed in the branding of Mind of Creative Designer.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from other graphic designers? I once read that there are several unique traits of a creative designer, all of which describe me and my brand. I am curious and enjoy learning new things. I am playful and willing to play with a variety of different ideas until the perfect solution is found. I try to be open minded and willing to listen to others. I love trying new ideas, and exploring them further. I do not judge others’ ideas or perspectives, but take time to listen and better understand them which can be very risk taking. As an Intuitive designer I base my designs on attention to every detail. When putting my full energy into a project, I develop a well rounded design solution for my clients.

Creative, strategic, and just a little bit imaginative to effectively generate design solutions that moves mountains and brings clients to center stage.

As an established freelance graphic designer with over 20+ years of experience in both corporate and freelance graphic design, I thrive on the aesthetics of design to build and support businesses to stand out and be visually successful. Specializing in various areas of graphic design elements such as typography, color theory and multi-language layouts, I can conceptualize and bring to the table a polished and finish design in all areas of communication: print, web/digital and social media.

Through my work and business ethics, I want to be an example of what “loving thy neighbor”or in this case, “loving thy client”, truly means. Setting an example of original concepts and design for other designers to strive for. What does this mean for my clients? That I am a dedicated, hard-working designer who doesn’t mind getting in the trenches to help build business and people so that goals and dreams are achieved. My passion over the years has been, and always will be design and art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we were best friends, we would start with a visit to church! Once we finished praising and worshiping God we would head on over to The Battery for a delicious lunch and some people watching.

With Atlanta offering such a wide variety of culture, food, and activities, you might want to add a few extra days and a pair of tennis shoes if you are visiting this great city. We would have days filled with visiting locations such as The High Museum, The Fernbank Science Center, The Center for Puppetry Arts, The Fox, and lets not forget a visit to Shakespeares Tavern Playhouse. Got kids or teens? Let head on over to the Atlanta Zoo, Six Flags over Georgia, World of Coca-cola, and Hoppers Cabin.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my Lord and Savior first, who provided me with my loving and supportive parents, my loving and encouraging husband, my amazing children and my “little-big” sister, who all have played a major role in my success. They have been with me every step of the way supporting me as I walked through every valley and they helped me reach the mountain top I call success.

Shoutout to my high school art teacher Holly Brinkley, and my professors Jeanne Sperry and Carole Mauge-Lewis at Kennesaw State University who helped nurture the driving force and the development of my love and passion for both art and graphic design.

I would also like to thank all of my clients, who hold a special place in my heart and allow me to develop designs that take me to the next level of success.
