Meet Sierra Howard | Jewelry Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sierra, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued my creative career because I knew I wanted to be my own boss. I wanted to be able to work for myself as well as bring in enough money to help my family. With my online jewelry business, I’ve been able to pay for school and help family who needed more support. Jewelry is my passion and I want to expand my brand to those who are into gold filled, spiritual inspired pieces. My jewelry tells a story and connects you towards your spiritual alignment. My jewelry is perfect for those who are starting a spiritual awakening and want to wear stylish, affordable pieces without worrying about tarnishing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a jewelry designer! I make jewelry from home. I like to take pendants, charms and chains and create them into my own pieces. I’m proud that I stayed true to my business and kept my consistency for the years I’ve had it open. I’ve seen many people start and stop their business and I’m proud of myself because I fought doubts and fear in order to keep my business going. I think what sets me apart from others is that I create my craft & my craft holds energy. It’s very easy to buy jewelry already pre made to ship to someone. I may not be a welder but I make all my pieces. I take the time to put together all the pieces I put out. As a spiritual, I believe your energy matters and people could feel it. I’m very passionate about my craft and I believe people could feel that. Every jewelry piece I’ve shipped out people have report back saying they love it and the energy it brings.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take her to the beach, a flower garden, a really good Pokè or sushi restaurant & an LA night club. Being in nature is more so of my thing. I get the most inspired/creative at the beach. Flower gardens are always nice too for being creative. Sushi is my fav so I’d take her to Kura revolving sushi for the cute experience. A cocktail house or club would be nice to end the day! I’m currently loving General Lees in LA because it’s fun but with a calming vibe. Dim lights & good r&b music. Wholesome energy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I started making jewelry back in 2019. It was a hobby I started to develop because I was tired of the jewelry that I would buy always tarnishing & turning my neck green. It was such a waste and I always ended up throwing them away. I started to create gold filled pendants for myself and at the time of my new developed jewelry making, I was in a financial rut. I was working at Starbucks not making enough money for school or much of anything. One day I was reading a book called “How to be a bad ass” by Jen Cisneros and I’ve been inspired ever since. I’ve reached out to creatives who were already making jewelry like Leann from DBL jewelry to get more insight on how to run my online jewelry business to make more income. I launched my brand in 2020 and it has grown beautifully ever since. I’m super grateful for Leann and the author Jen Cisneros for helping me and inspiring me to start a business. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
