We had the good fortune of connecting with Dacia Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dacia, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Absolutely, the decision to move to Atlanta proved to be a watershed moment in my entrepreneurial journey, especially given the city’s reputation as a burgeoning hub where African American business owners flourish. Atlanta’s business-friendly environment and vibrant, diverse community provided the perfect backdrop for Woods to expand her ambitions exponentially. By tapping into the city’s unique network of supportive mentors, like-minded entrepreneurs, and potential investors, she was able to catapult her startup, Ladies & Luggage, into the limelight, enjoying both critical acclaim and commercial success. Atlanta’s rich culture and focus on community welfare also reinforced my commitment to social impact, dovetailing perfectly with her vision for Ladies & Luggage. The city wasn’t just a change in geographical location; it was a transformative catalyst that enabled her to scale new heights professionally while remaining true to her core values. This move undeniably stands as one of the most impactful decisions she has made, steering her towards a path of success and influence in her field.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Certainly! The journey to where I am today has been anything but straightforward; it’s been a winding path filled with challenges and opportunities alike. What sets me apart from others is the love I have for our community of travelers is well beyond traveling. While many focus solely on offering travel experiences, the vision of Ladies & Luggage is to build sisterhood beyond what travel alone can offer. Our community is the what drives us, travel is the icing on the cake.

I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished at Ladies & Luggage. We’ve managed to bring women together all across the US and build bonds that aren’t soon to be broken.

Getting to this point wasn’t easy. The biggest challenge we faced was attracting clients that understood and wanted to be apart of our vision.

I’ve learned some valuable lessons along this journey. One is the power of resilience; rejection is only a stepping stone to perfection. Another is the importance of community; no one succeeds in isolation. Finally, the gift of mentorship; I’ve had incredible mentors who have shaped my outlook, and I strive to be that mentor for others now.

What do I want the world to know about my brand and story? Simply that it’s possible to be successful while remaining true to your core values. Ladies & Luggage is more than just a travel group; we’re a movements that embodies Sisterhood. Through our work, we hope to inspire the next generation to chase their dreams fearlessly, grounded in the belief that success is not just personal achievement but the impact you leave on the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m kind of new to the area so I’ve not explored much since our move, because travel is our life. But one of my favorite place is The Consulate. Not only is the food amazing, they also have rotating menus, so you never know what you’re going to get.

Now here’s what a day hanging out with me looks like…

Breakfast made by me
Drive around the neighborhood to see the vast landscapes
Lunch at Gumbeaux
Afternoon hanging out at Ponce City Market for some fun and a few drinks
Dinner at The Consulate
Night Cap at 12 Cocktails

Such a chill itinerary, but so much fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my Husband Teon Woods. He has been my biggest support, cheerleader, shoulder and travel bestie. Thanks Babe….
