We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Sachse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Building a business takes a lot of time and dedication and some of things that have helped me succeed are perseverance and the willingness to pivot and change when needed. It’s essential that you listen to your customers and your staff and take advice. You have to be willing to try new things. Some things may fail and some may succeed but you’ll never know until you try. As a business owner, you have to be open minded to change and listen to your intuition.

What should our readers know about your business?
I bought a butterfly farm after selling a former business. I’m a successful entrepreneur and even though I didn’t know much about butterflies, I knew with the right people in my corner that I would be able to figure it out. I got to where I am today because I grew a very successful swim business from my backyard into a flourishing aquatic facility. I needed a change of direction in life, so I sold the business and took a leap of faith to start over. I have gotten to where I am today by putting in a lot of hard work, dedication and net-working with the right people. A successful business is built from referrals and word of mouth so it’s important to build connections with people in every step of life. The Butterfly Farm is a unique experience for everyone, from children to adults and beyond. There is so much to learn about them and so much to enjoy about their beauty, come check it out and learn all about what they have to offer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Obviously the number one spot on my list would be the Butterfly Farm! I’d suggest a road trip to the North Ga Mountains to visit the quaint little town of Dahlonega. There is so much to see and do in the area from the hiking trails to the family run restaurants. The area has such a down home feeling and everyone is friendly and helpful. I honestly get asked this question all of the time from customers and here is my response: Visit the Butterfly Farm in the morning to take in the glory of them waking up and spreading their wings, walk through the gardens and enjoy the flowers before it gets too hot. After the Butterflies, head down to Castleberry Bridge and take a walk along the river path where one man has single handedly provided the community with this amazing adventure! Before heading into town, stop off at Accent Cellars, meet the owners of this family run winery and then head to downtown and visit the antique shops, the flower shops, Gypsy Teas and have lunch at either Spirits or The Picnic Cafe.
After that, take a drive out of town and walk around Lake Zwerner to walk off your lunch, and then head to the Brewery and the Consolidated Gold Mine.
That’s a wrap!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
You bought what? They said! Most people thought I was crazy for buying a butterfly farm!

Shoutout to my husband for always having my back, my family for listening to all of the craziness, my amazing butterfly crew(family) that took this leap of faith and jumped on board and my “Tribe” who have believed in and supported me while I “spread my wings”. I’d like to dedicate this to my Mother (God rest her soul) for giving me the love of plants and flowers. Even though she isn’t here to see this place, I know she’s watching over me and when things get tough, she shoots me a ladybug sign to remind me that she’s near!
