We had the good fortune of connecting with Freda Givens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Freda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
G Clef Solutions, LLC was created as a multifaceted company because of three of my greatest passions: education, leadership, and music. For several years I served in the role of principal leading dynamic groups of professional educators in the school setting. Serving as a school leader through a global health crisis (pre, during, and post) gives me a unique perspective on some of the challenges school leaders face in this time in our society.  Simultaneously, I continued to be active as a musician, vocalist, and composer. Many would consider my skillset to be an odd combination. “G Clef,” symbolic of my love for music and “Solutions,” articulating my gift of leadership, came together as the perfect combination for the establishment of G Clef Solutions, LLC.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Founded in 2022, G Clef Solutions, LLC is a consulting group designed to provide schools and their leaders with high-quality strategic guidance, operational and programmatic expertise, and leadership/governance coaching. While educational leadership consulting is one division of the company, G Clef Solutions, LLC is also unique in that there is an entire division devoted to music. That may come as a surprise to many. My background is in music education. I am a lifelong lover of music and performing arts. Over the years, I’ve composed several musical works which have garnered regional and national acclaim. I also recently recorded my debut solo single. I’m looking forward to releasing more music in the near future.

Forming a company that allows me to utilize my broad background is a dream come true. I began thinking about forming a company several years ago but avoided stepping into the vision due to fear of failure. I had to realize that just as it’s written in Jeremiah 29:11, God has a plan for my life. His plan includes great hope and a bright future. Once I really acted on what His Word said, I was able to move out of my own way and move forward. I am proud of the tremendous growth the company has already experienced in less than a year. We are making great strides in preparing a new generation of school and community leaders.

“G Clef,” is symbolic of my love for music and “Solutions,” articulates my gift of leadership and problem solving. The name is a perfect combination of what our company stands for at G Clef Solutions, LLC.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is a very diverse metropolitan area. The city is a haven for creative and performing artists. There is a plethora of performing arts venues in the area. Some of my favorite places for enjoying live performances are Fox Theatre and Woodruff Arts Center, home of the Atlanta Symphony.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give credit to the Lord Jesus, and I thank Him for the family, friends, and colleagues he’s allowed me to experience throughout the course of my life. Every experience in your life has a purpose. I am also grateful to have been raised by one of the earth’s greatest educators and musicians, Dr. Mildred Givens.
