Meet Stephanie Lindsay | Recording Artist, Songwriter, Actress, Event/Interior Designer, Creative, Chef, Travel Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Lindsay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe risks are a very important aspect of life, you can’t grow or evolve or get out of your comfort zone without taking a risk or chance. For me risks have been integral in my life and career and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I took that chance when every part of was unsure and it paid off.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a Recording Artist, Songwriter, Actress, Chef, Event and Interior Designer, Travel Curator, Creative, etc. You can call me multifaceted lol, but for today let’s focus on my music. I’m an Afrobeats/Afrofusion Artist. I’ve been singing and writing music for most of my life, through the usual outlets, church, school , you know, but I got my big break through a singing competition back in Ghana, similar to Britain’s got Talent called Vodafone icons where we auditioned as individual female singers and were put in groups based on our voices, personalities and chemistry. My band “RNM” emerged as the winner and that’s how my professional career in music started. It definitely hasn’t been easy. We went on tours, released a few singles and tried to navigate being in a group and still having our individuality and alas, we went out separate ways, pursuing solo careers as well as other ventures. I took a long break balancing motherhood and my new life abroad, but finally through the support of my tribe especially Grace Muwawa dipped my toe back into music and I proud to say I haven’t loved music more than I do now. I’m absolutely blessed and proud to announce that my EP will be coming out in either September or October!
It’s always challenging starting over in any career field, I’ve faced my share of difficulties, but it’s always important to remember your love for the art, and your end goal and never giving up.
I want my music to bring people together, in love, in fun, in dance and in community. I hope that when people hear Baaba Lin they feel a sense of relatability and peace.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I love curating fun travel itineraries so this will be fun. I love loads of place in the A and on a week long trip these are a few places you have to definitely try. Ike’s bar and grill for some amazing authentic African food.
Rock steady for a little upscale Afro-Caribbean vibes.
The Garden Room for your cute girlie selfie moments and some amazing cocktails”definitely ig worthy lol”
Toast on Lenox or breakfast at Barneys for a lovely brunch.
The Lions Atl or The Ace Atl for some swanky Afro/American Nightlife
Sky lounge for some rooftop vibes
Midtown Beach Club for your vacay in the city feels lol
And for the tourists at heart, definitely visit the Selfie museum. That’s a few I can remember of the top of my head lol, I know they will enjoy it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest shoutout goes to God Almighty for always ordering my steps and never failing me, and then my parents, Spanford and Nana Essilfie for allowing me to grow on my creative journey and supporting me through it all. My band mates, Natasha Amanda Mann-Dedey, January, and Deniece for giving our group as an all female band a shot in the industry and doing the work when it counted. To Eric Ogoe, Nana Asihene for believing in us and taking a chance on us, and finally my tribe Grace Muwawa, Tilar-B, Ngolo Kitenge, Brenda Essien, Destiny Jones, Wale Ola, Antoine Butler, Tonde Mufudzi, DJ Jah love, DJ Maestro, Prince O, and everyone that supports me, they’re a lot so I can’t list them all here, but trust that I appreciate you all and your constant, love , support and contribution to my success.
