Meet Chris Bargeron | Sound Healer & Creative Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Bargeron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since I was 4 years old music has been a healing place of empowerment and safety. With a pair of headphones and cassette from the band Yes, I would escape to a magical place of creative wonder. A place where I imagined myself playing this music with the band. Now as an adult Sound Healer, I see how healing this music was for my young emotional state. Yes music incorporates such a great mix of high frequencies combined with transcendental musical arrangements, whether they knew it or not it has magical effects on its listeners. It certainly helped me! Once I learned to play my own instruments, for years I played for myself in a manner that I now know was meditative and soothing. For decades I was my own personal sound healer and didn’t know it. Fast forward to a time of my life where I was emotionally broken after a decade of drug addiction and alcoholism. It took me multiple inpatient rehabilitations to finally sober up enough to begin the inner child healing therapy I needed. It was then that I attended my first sound bath from the amazing Michael Burke. I experienced a healing meditative experience like never before, and I was convinced that I could do this too. We became friends and so began my journey to sacred sound. My passion went from entertainment to holistic, and the power of sound has blown me away since! I also felt a passion to pass on the experience of creative music to others. I began offering creative coaching for my music students. Laying down a strong musical foundation with encouragement to explore outside the musical box. Nothing makes me happier than helping a student sound like themselves instead of like another artist!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The art of sound healing is an intuitive practice of resonance. All matter vibrates, and the human body operates at a variety of frequencies. We are more than walking instruments, we are divinely unique symphonies. Interacting with a world of noise can offset those musical notes that make up our collective biofield. Through the art of resonating with those natural frequencies, we can restore them to their proper dynamics. We bring balance and harmony back to our energetic orchestra.
My passion for sound healing comes from how it has helped me in my own journey of recovery. I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. I have been in anger management. I have spent many nights sleeping on the streets. I have been on the brink of suicide. Always sound has been there for me bringing me back from the brink of complete dispair. In my last few years of healing these practices of mine were used on myself. They have soothed my parasympathetic nervous system and empowered my meditations. These healing experiences I want to pass on. As they say, “you can’t keep it unless you give it away.”
My experience as a musician for 25 years has gifted me immensely in my approach to sacred sound. I like to think it has given me a mature approach. It’s not about how many notes you play, but about the space between the notes. You must allow the sounds space to draw the listener in. Bring them to you. With that approach comes a responsibility of smoothly orchestrated transitions to the various instruments. You don’t want to bring someone to the waters of serenity in a sea of Tibetan bowl sounds, only to startle them with a sudden gong strike. Smooth transitions are kind of my forte in the sound healing world.
I also have developed a clinical approach to sound healing that brings me a level of success. I like to describe what I do as a mix of physical science with the metaphysical. There’s so much we can’t explain through science, and yet feel in our hearts to be true. I believe this is because science has yet to catch up to what our ancestors knew intuitively. When I have a client I utilize my sound therapy knowledge to essentially develop a therapeutic plan for them. But then comes the magic of energetic work during their session. I must be receptive to that source that guides my hands. And often times those sounds that came to me outside of the therapeutic plan turned out to be exactly what they needed!
The biggest challenge for me has been that feeling of imposture syndrome. There are so many talented sound healers in the Atlanta area. At first I had this “saturated market” perspective to it, and it discouraged me to continue on this path. This is where I am so grateful to my spiritual community at Unity North of Marietta, GA. That reminder of the divine essence that is each of us. We aren’t in competition to each other. We are all working together to aid the planet with our unique gifts. When I realized this, I became a “part of” instead of “apart from” this amazing healing community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a gamer at heart. Boring as it may sound, I would treat friends to an evening of board gaming at Caffeinated Gamers over here in Roswell, GA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Rebecca Bargeron has been my biggest cheerleader. I am so lucky to have a partner who leans in when we have contrast, instead of putting up walls. She has been a big part of breaking down those walls I put up from my emotions and pointing me in the right direction for my inner healing. My consciousness and spirit have truly expanded being with her, and I am forever grateful.
