We had the good fortune of connecting with Bethani Walton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bethani, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art is something I’ve always looked toward. I’ve never imagined myself doing something that isn’t art related or creative, it definitely comes naturally to me so it has always felt “right”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never felt that anything “set me apart” from other artists mainly because art itself is unique, everyone’s artwork is unique, everyone uses a different technique or adds a little something to make their art their own. If I were to pick something that set me apart I’d have to say my combination of styles, I don’t have one set style of art because I like to embrace a variety of artistic elements.

To get where I am today was tough, and it’s still tough. I have a very long way to go, I don’t feel as if I’ve done enough to reach my full potential yet but I’m confident in my art, my skills, and my growth as an artist, that I will tap into that full potential. It was a struggle to reach the point I am at mainly because I didn’t believe in myself, I had to stop listening to my own negative thoughts, I had to tune out other people’s opinions of my art and let “Bethani” show up in my work.

Over the years one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to shut up and do it. If you have an idea, do it, if you want to experiment with different mediums, do it, stop overthinking it. As I said before, art comes naturally to me so I have to let it flow out of me in a natural way, it can’t be forced.

Im not sure if there is much I would want the world to know about me, because I don’t have anything to prove, but I hope that when people see/meet me and see my art, they can tell and sense how genuine I am and how much of that I put into my art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooooooh this is tough lol., I’m still pretty new to ATL so I think I would find a few cafes to check out during the day, around lunch we can head to Bar Taco for tacos and drinks then maybe at night we can visit Underground Atlanta if it’s a first Friday (I’ve never been but it looks so cool). I like to people watch and so do most of my friends so hitting up the park or the BeltLine would be on the list too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family. It seems very cliche but they literally believe in me more than I do myself at times and it feels good that they see my potential and encourage me to go forth and be great.
