We had the good fortune of connecting with Bella Raye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bella, how do you think about risk?
In songwriting, I see there being 2 risks. 1 being you can take the safe road and blend in, and the 2nd being, you can write honestly and vulnerably, and risk not being liked by a few people but connecting with hundreds. I choose the latter.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always tell people that I write for the girls. I take every day situations that every woman / and some men even, have dealt with and turn them into empowering songs to help them get through whatever they may be feeling from their personal situation. I always want the listener to feel like they’re on top, not crawling on the floor to survive. Even my sad songs, have an empowering message behind them to unite the listeners.

The road through my career has most definitely not been easy; it has had many twists and turns, but i’m so thankful for where those divots in my path have continued to lead me. It’s all essential to the journey!

I just want to stay true to myself and what I believe in as a songwriter and artist. I have always heard “if everyone likes you, you’re doing something wrong.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
nashville is amazing for so many different reasons- but my favorite being the food! Broadway is fun, but really the local places are where it’s at! I can’t give too many secrets away, but I would definitely give them the local tour and make sure they leave with full bellies and full hearts! Obviously, I would have to show them some live music too. Nashville is the city of dreamers, and it’s such a magical feeling to experience when you’re here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize my parents / family who has always backed my career and supported me from the get go. Also, just any friends / producer / songwriter that I have worked with and walked alongside during this journey!
