We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonio Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Antonio, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
As I reflect on my journey as an artist and entrepreneur, the question of why I chose to pursue an artistic or creative career brings forth a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. Two distinct reasons drove me to embark on this path, each intertwining with my passion for photography and my unwavering faith.

First and foremost, I yearned to share with the world how I perceive the beauty and intricacies of life. Through my art, I sought to offer a glimpse into my unique perspective and connect with people on a profound level. I believe that art has the power to bridge gaps, foster understanding, and cultivate a sense of unity within a community. It is through this connection that growth and inspiration thrive.

However, my journey took a significant turn when I recently discovered my calling as a leader. In a moment of realization, I became aware that God had bestowed upon me a gift—an eye for angles and the knowledge to capture them. It was a profound affirmation that I could not ignore. I now see my creative career as a vessel through which I can serve as a leader, using my talents to inspire and impact others.

At the age of 20, I am humbled and blessed to say that I am a son of God and a cherished older/little brother to my incredible siblings. Alongside these personal blessings, I am also a member of the National Youth Leadership Institute at NHF, an invaluable opportunity that continues to nurture my growth as a leader.

Additionally, I am the proud owner and founder of Tonyvisions Limited Liability Company, a business that I established nearly two years ago. Through my company, I have had the privilege of working with esteemed organizations such as CREC Open Choice, the Black Business Alliance, and many others, serving as a contracted photographer. These collaborations have allowed me to refine my skills and expand my reach, capturing powerful moments that resonate with diverse audiences.However, it is my role as the Lead Photographer and Photo Editor at Rehoboth Church of God that holds a special place in my heart. Within the church community, I have the honor of immortalizing moments that embody faith, love, and unity. Through my lens, I strive to capture the essence of these precious moments, creating visual narratives that touch the hearts of many.

As I continue to tread this artistic and entrepreneurial path, I envision a future where creativity and leadership intertwine seamlessly. My ultimate aspiration is to inspire others, uplift communities, and be a vessel for God to bless others through my work.To all aspiring artists and creatives, I offer this message of encouragement: embrace your passions and gifts, for they are uniquely yours. Believe in yourself and the transformative power of your art. Thank you for your interest in my art and for giving me the opportunity to share my story. My art is a reflection of my belief in creative freedom and breaking free from the constraints of rules and standards. I strive to see the world differently and present it through my unique perspective. Ultimately, I want my art to embody positivity and freedom, serving as a source of inspiration for others.

What I am most proud of is my ability to constantly challenge myself and approach photography from new angles. I take pride in pushing boundaries and exploring uncharted territories in my work. It is this drive that has allowed me to evolve both personally and professionally.

My journey began in 2020 when I found myself uncertain about the direction of my career. I was aimlessly drifting until I made the decision to invest in a camera without a concrete business plan. Although I couldn’t have foreseen the success I would achieve, I took every opportunity that came my way, sometimes without immediate financial gain. The turning point came when I was presented with the chance to capture photos at Rehoboth Church of God. This experience became a catalyst for my growth.

With each subsequent opportunity, I continued to learn and improve. It hasn’t been an easy path, and I faced numerous challenges along the way. But I overcame them through sheer determination, unwavering faith in God, and an unyielding commitment to my craft. Doubts and uncertainties may arise, especially at the young age of 20, but I firmly believe that without God’s guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

In 2022, I established Tonyvisions LLC as a means to leverage more opportunities and further my growth. While I have made significant progress, I recognize that there is still ample room for expansion and exploration. The journey to where I am now has been an uphill climb, and I anticipate more challenges in the future. However, I am prepared to face them with grit, faith, and an unwavering dedication to my craft.

If there’s one thing I want people to take away from my story, it is the importance of keeping God at the center of every aspect of life, regardless of its scale. Additionally, I encourage others to hold onto their determination and persevere in pursuing their dreams. The first years of establishing a business can be make-or-break, but investing in oneself is a decision that can lead to incredible growth and fulfillment.

May my story serve as a reminder to always maintain a connection with God and have the determination to take the high road alongside Him, for there are remarkable things waiting on the other side.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my best friend visits Connecticut, I want to make sure they have the best time ever. Despite its small size, Connecticut offers a lot of fun if you know where to look. We would explore the deep-rooted Caribbean culture here, indulging in a wide variety of delicious foods. Connecticut is also home to thrilling activities like go-karting and amusement parks, providing excitement and adrenaline. With a well-planned itinerary, we can have an amazing time exploring the hidden gems and vibrant attractions this state has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I reflect on my artistic journey and the growth I have experienced, I am overwhelmed with a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible individuals and organizations who have supported and believed in me. It is with utmost sincerity that I extend my heartfelt appreciation to those who have been instrumental in my success.

First and foremost, I want to express my profound gratitude to my family and friends. To my loving parents, who have always encouraged me to follow my dreams and supported me every step of the way, I owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude. Their unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. To my amazing siblings, both older and younger, thank you for being my pillars of support and for always cheering me on.

I would also like to acknowledge and express my gratitude to the Rehoboth Church of God, where I have had the privilege of learning, growing, and capturing beautiful moments of faith and community.
