We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I graduated Kennesaw State in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and started working at CryoLife in Kennesaw later that year. I lost my mom in 2018 and that challenge led me to having a change of heart of what I wanted to spend my life doing. I decided to follow the passion that I have always had for photography and start Warren Studio Photography that summer. It allowed me to take control of my life and do the things that I love while having the freedom to travel to new places and meet some amazing people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My love for photography is always growing and knowing that I have the chance to be a part of some of the most important times in others lives makes it so meaningful and worthwhile. It has not been an easy read by any means and I still have a lot to learn and growth to have. I have learned to always trust your instincts on how you want your business to run, how it is perceived by others and what you have to put out there. The photography field is so saturated but each person has something special that they bring that makes us unique. For me, I believe that my sense of humor and compassion for others are some of the biggest things that make myself and business unique. When someone works with me, I want them to know that I am there for them and anything that they need, I will do my best to make sure they are taken care of and comfortable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend come visit my area, I would love to show them to different things that the Atlanta area has to offer. Maybe start with the fun attractions in Atlanta like the Georgia Aquarium (biology will always hold a very special and important part in my heart and life) while also exploring the local parks. For some additional fun I would go to Skyline Park for a different view of the city. Another day would be spent at the Georgia Winery for a tasting, I mean who can say no to a delicious wine tasting??

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Christian has always stood by me and told me to do what makes me happy. He has been with me through some of the toughest times in my life and has been my guiding light when I needed it the most. Also many of the local photographers in North Georgia have been a huge help in mentoring, giving advice or just general friendship that has been huge in having the courage to put myself out there for my business.
