Meet Yaxeni Rivera | Leader (Accordion player & Voice) of Los Luzeros de Rioverde

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yaxeni Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yaxeni, why did you pursue a creative career?
“I have the belief that when we’re born God gives us many paths choose from. I don’t think this is a path that we chose. God chose to put us on this path and we are very in love with what we do and grateful.” – Yaxeni

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being in the music industry is not easy. This industry is full of obstacles and hard work that has to be done in order to succeed. Many other careers are also full of work however, the difference with music is that most of the time no one is going to see your hard work but yourself. That’s why since the beginning, out parents have encouraged us to do everything with love and dedication because we know that with love and dedication anything is possible. I believe that that’s our way of overcoming challenges. We have learned to stick together no matter what. When a problem strikes, it’s when we have to be the most connected in order to survive together as a family in the music industry. We want the world to know that in all of our songs we like to share messages. Not just play music to play it. But instead, to make people aware of what’s going on in life through music and to be a support to those who are going through something.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We were born and raised here in Houston, TX. There are many activities and fun hang out places to go to here in Houston. However, whenever a friend comes to visit we love to take them to Galveston. There’s something about the water and being close to the ocean that just feels so liberating, refreshing and stress free.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to thank God for protecting us spiritually and we want to thank our parents for encouraging us to do whatever we are passionate about. We are thankful for their love and advice.
