We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenni Giles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenni, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
There’s a lot of research that comes with making charcuterie boards, and a lot of time to get the presentation just right. It’s about knowing what nuts go with cheese, what meats go with cheese, fruits, and if you have an audience that’s having wine with their boards, what wine pairing is going to bring it all together. Some give a sweet taste, some give a savory taste, etc. With board preparation, it may take me a minimum of two hours, depending on the size of the board. That comes with cleaning the fruit, preparing the cheese, meats, nuts and any other items that may come on the boards. But it’s my passion, so I don’t mind the time!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, I’ve been in the banking industry for a little over 4 years. I’m a fraud analyst and of course that includes helping others. Helping people is one of my passions. I enjoy being able to offer a solution that may end some problems, if not all. And for me, that pours over into my business. I had just decided to start my boards during the pandemic due to realizing that it was something I was creative at. I loved eating charcuterie boards, and having people tell me that I’m good at making them, so why not? I’ve gotten to where I am today with a lot of hard work. It wasn’t easy coming from another state and moving my entire life, changing how I do things, learning a new location. But with hard work and determination, you can do anything you want to do. I made my mind up that I was never going to go back to my hometown and I had to make it work. I’ve had a very successful career thus far and I plan on making my boards just as successful as my personal career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I actually love to explore the city and the suburbs! There’s so many different places, different foods to try and different activities you can do. You can typically catch me eating at Le Colonial in Buckhead Village, checking out Colony Square’s food hall, playing games at Your 3rd Spot, getting crab legs from Wild Crab out in Hiram and when I want to dress up and go out nice, I may visit Kyma or Steak Market. I’d also go to the botanical gardens or Fernbank, as well as the High museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanted to dedicate my shoutout to my parents and my close friends! They are the main reason I am who I am today. With their encouragement, when times may get hard, they are always here to say the right words to keep me going. I’m fairly new to Atlanta and it helps to have a close circle of people that you can count on.
