We had the good fortune of connecting with Darius Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darius, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
In all honesty, I began because I knew the gift I had been given was great. The gift wasn’t just artistic, it was spiritual and I knew I had to share those messages.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Business wise, I say I’m definitely still learning. The switch from creative to business owner wasn’t easy. I do believe my Bachelors in Finance helped, but its so many things to consider in business. From brand positioning to how to spread that message it was very overwhelming for a while.

I believe things shifted when I approached business with a scientific mind. I know the scientific method well, but it took for me to take the time to create templates for the different repeated actions in my business such as live events. Then I had to identify the goals I had. With those goals, I wrote out the methodologies for how I planned to get there.

The hardest part has been tracking my data, but as I said I’m learning, evolving. With this evolution, comes with resources that I created to help me in my process that I look forward to giving out. That’s the purpose of this brand, yes I’m cultivating the future that I want with it, but that path allows for me to help others reach their most perfect future. Both on the creative side and on the business side

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Normally, I stay to myself, in the house. If I were to go out I would go to one place, Bookstore Gallery. Its the perfect place to chill and relax while getting work done. But also, when the work is done, it has the best people in the city. You can go in there at any time and have a life changing conversation. From the teas to the treats, its the most perfect vibe spot in the city

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel like I have answered this question a few ways. This time, I want to focus on the book I use daily. I helps me stay focused, motivated, and in alignment with the life I want. The Bible. I attribute my ability to do what I do in theatre, whether that’s producing or performing, to that book. It helped me learn understanding and that helps in all aspects of my creative journey.

Plus now, with me creating Voices Unveiled: An Ensemble of Theatre Vignettes, I’m taking lessons I learned in the Bible to help me along the process. I’m literally creating a new path for these independent creators to monetize their work, as is their right. I’m helping them possess the promise.
