We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by new experiences. When I take myself out of my comfort-zone, that’s when I feel the most inspired. I’m more aware, more attuned to my surroundings and myself which helps me think of things I normally don’t.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make art because I love it when I see something I find meaning in. I can’t help but stare until the image, the emotions, are forever stamped in my mind.

I hope to do that with my art. I hope to cause people to pause and be present with their emotions.

Honestly, making art has become a bit of a job. One of the biggest challenges I’ve had to overcome was to accept that making income from my art would make it work. What helped me was realizing the work I am and will be doing isn’t to fulfill some else’s aspirations, but my own. Beyond that, it’s work that I love and put my heart into.


Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother and father have been important in my journey. They have supported me in the best ways they know how and have been key to my growth in all areas of my life.
