We had the good fortune of connecting with Johni Demeatri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Johni, why did you pursue a creative career?
As a singer, I was born with an everlasting song on my heart. My heart beats to it everyday. It took some time and maturity but that song taught me that creative expression is vital to my health. It’s how I live, it’s how I love and how I thrive! My gift comes from within and letting it out is what got me here with you today.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m so excited to share about my upcoming EP, Disconnected=Cutoff! It’s set to be released this summer and it just might be the best project that I’ve released to date! I’m ready to give the people what I know they will feel. I’m proud of myself because let’s be real we all know that the music industry is no smooth road! It’s actually more like climbing a mountain. As artists, we can find ourselves struggling with the constant incline of standards and status of this business like being popular, multitalented, wealthy, etc. It will always be a challenge for any artist, from the superstars to the amateurs. However the further I get into climbing this mountain of the music industry, I’m learning that the right perspective about it can turn our struggles into our strengths! Finally, I know that what sets me apart from most is purpose! I don’t make career choices only for money or fame. I do it to live out God’s purpose for my life. I use my gift as a blessing to His people even in R&B music. I do it on purpose for purpose!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be completely honest, I’m always busy performing. To continue to take advantage of my opportunities and entertain my best friend, I would invite her to all my gigs! I would make sure she’s fed and full so I get her nice and tipsy and put on the show of her life! She might enjoy the tipsy part a little more than she’s supposed to! Lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to show love to the people that formed such a great team and support system around me that played an amazing part in helping me elevate my music career. People like my manager, Wally Lockard, of Urban Grind Radio/TV. He helped me take ownership of what is already mine. Together we reached MTV with my hit single, Energy, which is available on all music platforms. He’s currently helping me chart my current single, All for me, which can also be streamed on all platforms. He deserves this shoutout and more! Dee Vocalz and Ejilla Beats have both played a huge part in the production of my music. Pretty soon I’ll be thanking them from The Grammys because of the undeniable work we’ve done together! Lastly, my partner, Bre Nickelle has been with me every step of the way since we joined together. It’s not a day that goes by that she’s not by my side uplifting, motivating and rooting for me! She’s also a singer/songwriter and y’all will be hearing from her very soon! My career will not be where it is without these people. I have to say THANK YOU!
