We had the good fortune of connecting with Gamesia Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gamesia, how do you think about risk?
I feel like you have to take risks because how else would you know if something works or not? I mean, yes, you can take advice from others, but most of the time people are telling you their fears or failures of what happened to them personally. Your path will always be different than someone else’s. You definitely don’t want to be thinking “what if” all the time when all you had to do was just go for it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
One thing that I can honestly say about having your own business is that you will run into issues where you may fail and that is okay. It has not been an easy road, especially when life decides to throw curve balls at you. You truly have to take those lessons, learn from them and do better. That is where I am finding myself right now, but I am taking notes along the way so I can come back stronger. I know I am my biggest critic, but I’m also learning to be more gentle with myself while on this journey. With my brand, I always encourage others as well to never give up on their dreams no matter what. You have to focus on validating yourself and stop getting it from others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m actually a very chill person, so I don’t really hang out in huge crowds. But I would take my friend shopping to Lenox Mall or Phipps Plaza followed by a nice rooftop dinner—maybe something low key like Gypsy Kitchen or Bask Steakhouse. Then we would probably go to a nice African club or somewhere where the vibe is always good.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, definitely! I’ve definitely been through ups and downs and have great people in my life that keep me going and help me keep my head up. First and foremost, nothing…and I mean absolutely NOTHING is possible without putting God first in my life. My family has been a huge support system and thinking about that just reminds me that they are my ‘’why’’ for me to keep going. I also have great support from my close friends that keep me going. We’re always motivating each other to keep pushing forward. Having the right people in your life definitely helps.
